You can find more information about Grants Pass Clinic

on their website, at https://www.grantspassclinic.com,

or call 541-476-6644.

Grants Pass Clinic is a locally-owned multi-specialty medical group that has been part of the commu-

nity since 1949. Clinic patients get most of their family’s health care needs met under one roof. This is what the founders had in mind when they formed Grants Pass Clinic. Specialties include Pediatrics, Fam-ily Practice with Obstetrics, Internal Medi-cine, Podiatry, Acute Care, and Surgery. Grants Pass Clinic also has a laboratory, behavioral health care, addiction care, an anticoagulation clinic, a registered nurse care manager, imaging services, and physi-cal therapy in the building.

One thing that makes Grants Pass Clinic special is its focus on people. Pa-tients and staff members feel like they are part of a family. You can feel it when you walk in. Caring for patients and each oth-er is part of Grants Pass Clinic culture and tradi-tion, and it shows.

Another thing people notice about Grants Pass Clinic is quality. The state of Or-egon has long recognized Grants Pass Clinic as pro-viding the highest level of care. In fact, the Clinic is one of only a small number of Oregon Clinics recognized as a 5-STAR Patient Centered Primary Care Home. In 2016, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services honored Grants Pass Clinic as the Comprehensive Primary Care Champion for Oregon.

People who work at Grants Pass Clinic are active in the community. The Clinic recently adopted Ringette Street as part of the City’s Adopt-A-Street program. It is common to see members of the Grants Pass Clinic team volunteering at commu-

The City of Grants Pass presents, Art Along the Rogue. Beginning in 2003, Art Along the Rogue has become the premier street painting and music festival in the Northwest. There are other street painting festivals and other music festi-vals, but Art Along the Rogue combines the two events into a festival of creative visual and per-formance art that is unique in the world.

Art Along the Rogue is sponsor-supported and free to the public. Dozens of local and regional businesses sponsor the festival with both cash and services. Grants Pass loves the arts – and it really shows!

These goods are usually bulk-packaged and marketed primarily to large families and businesses. Costco does not carry multiple brands or varieties where the item is essentially the same except when it has a house brand to sell, generally by the Kirkland Signature label. This results in a high volume of sales from a vendor, allowing further reductions in price, and reducing market-ing costs. A typical Costco warehouse carries only 4,000 dis-tinct products, while a typical Walmart Supercenter car-ries approximately 140,000 products

EVERY DAY OF OCTOBER!

Fort Vannoy Farms celebrates the Harvest Season with a Corn Maze and Pumpkin Patch. This is a spec-tacular corn maze because the farmers use the tallest corn to grow the maze. Some of the field corn stalks grow as tall as 12 feet in height be-fore Farmer Bob carves the maze in September. There are many acres of field corn to wind your way through and it is very surprising how good it feels to be surrounded by corn! The Corn Maze and Pumpkin Patch is the place to be in South-ern Oregon every day in October. Remember, as the crisp autumn air begins to cool the Rogue Valley down, the Maze Craze begins and the Pumpkins are ripe for picking! The Farm Stand has moved to the Corn Maze and Pumpkin Patch! We are open 11a-6p daily. Today, our Pumpkin Patch and Corn Maze is open too. Starting October 7, we will have the Zipline, Food Trucks, Bounce House, and much more each weekend! The Grants Pass & Josephine County Chamber of Com-merce hosted a Legislature’s

Legislative update August 14th at Grants Pass Golf Club. The 50 busi-ness representatives heard from Sena-tor Herman Baertschiger, Representa-tive Carl Wilson and Representative Duane Stark. The Chamber asked the legislators to look into the crystal ball that was placed in front of them at the podium and share their insights to what the local business community can expect in the year to ahead.

Many of the businesses in the room have been affected in one way or an-other by the past few years of Employ-ment Law changes, Business Taxes, Energy & Environmental issues. The effects on business have been difficult and don’t seem to be slowing down. Senator Baertschiger opened with re-minding the audience that Josephine County primarily is an aging popula-tion. 35% are Medicaid and 21% are Medicare. This reality creates a disad-vantage in workforce and growth of our community.

September 15, 2017

The Grants Pass & Josephine County Chamber of Com-merce invited Congressman

Greg Walden to speak to its members at an open forum. With the air quality index just clearing up from the wild fires in the area, much of the one hour conversation with the 50+ chamber members were on his efforts on for-est management reform. The audience made it clear that the business com-munity does not want this to be the new norm for our area. The impacts on business for the recent 6 weeks of the fires were detrimental to business, tourism and the quality of life that we experienced.

Congressman Walden spoke about HealthCare Reform, the Affordable Care Act is driving insurance costs up and reducing the healthcare choices

that Oregonians have. It is a tough balancing act to make sure they de-liver proper care to all people, seniors,

Representatives Duane Stark and Carl Wilson both expressed concern on what the future looks like in Salem for business. There is not a light at the end of the tunnel to stop the employment law issues that keep being created.

Getting through the State Budget and $5.3billion transportation package were milestones. The 2018 short ses-sion begins February 5th and there will be perhaps 300 bills to look at rather than the nearly 4000 bills this past session.

families, those suffering from mental illness and drug addictions, all while protecting Medicare and Social Secu-rity.

Asked about the situation in North Korea and Kim Jong-un’s threats to America. Congressman Walden gave a little history of the many trouble-some years between North Korea and the United States. It goes back to before Kim Jong-il who is Kim Jong-un’s father. China and Japan are get-ting into the talks about North Koreas nuclear weapons program.

Volunteers in our Community

The Grants Pass Kiwanis Club celebrates its 70th Birthday in the community this year

and marks its 32nd year of parking cars at the Josephine County Fair. In 1985, the Josephine County Fair Board approached the Kiwanis Club, then under President Randy Clark, about parking cars and sharing the proceeds. The ini-tial parking fee was $.50 per car, it increased the following year to $1 and many early patrons were resis-tant. The Fair Parking Project has been the Club’s main service project fundraiser all these years with the revenue going back into the com-munity for some 17 youth-based charitable causes and scholarships. It is estimated the Grants Pass Kiwanis Club volunteer hours for the 4-day Fair including set-up and clean-up total 750 hours. The Grants Pass Kiwanis Club is already making plans to park another 4,000 cars at the 2018 Josephine County Fair!
