Foundation Stage 2 Staff

Introduction • In Foundation Stage 2 your child will attend school

on a full-time basis.

Morning: 8.45am – 11.30am

Lunch:11.30 – 12.45pm

Afternoon: 12.45pm – 3.15pm

• There are 2 Foundation Stage 2 classes and a mixed Foundation 1/2 class.

• Children will meet their new teacher on Monday 2nd July 2012

What can you do to help? • Encourage your child to go to the

toilet on their own. • Send your child to nursery in clothes

they can manage.

• Encourage your child to do up their own zips and buttons.

• Encourage your child to be as

independent as possible.

School Dress Code

• At Mellor we expect ALL children to come to school wearing the correct dress code.

• Please make sure ALL of your child’s clothing and footwear in fully labelled to avoid lost property.

• Jewellery should not be worn.

• Plain trousers/skirts/tunics/tracksuits- black, grey or blue

• Sweat shirts- black, grey, blue or jade

• Polo shirts or cotton T-shirts- black, grey, blue or

white

• Footwear- black without heels or trainers. No flip flops or slip ons. Wellingtons for outdoor play and learning.

• Book bags (please ensure your child brings this to school each day)

Healthy Schools Award

• The Healthy Schools Award was obtained in the 2006. We ask you to continue to support us, particularly in providing your child with healthy packed lunches and snacks.

• Healthy balanced school dinners are

offered.

Foundation Stage 2 Curriculum In January 2010 the Foundation Stage implemented the

SFA programme which is a structured Literacy and Numeracy based programme also incorporating these

areas of learning. • Personal, Social & Emotional Development • Knowledge & Understanding Of The World • Physical Development • Creative Development • We encourage learning to take place in both the inside

and outside environments. Therefore, it is important that you provide your child with the appropriate clothing and footwear to suit the weather.

Opportunities for parents Parent/child morning activities • You will have the opportunity to take part in

parent and child activities each morning throughout the year

Adult courses • There will also be opportunities to attend

courses focussing on how to support your own and your child’s learning.

Contact with the school • Please ensure that all personal information is

updated via the school office so that we have the appropriate information to hand in the case of an emergency.

• If your child is unwell, please let the office know as soon as possible.

• If another adult is picking your child up from school, please let the office or their teacher know.
