The Piedmont Transplant Institute (PTI) is honoring its 25th anniversary this year. Piedmont’s transplant programs, which include kidney, pancreas, kidney-pancreas, liver and most recently heart, has compiled an impressive list of statistics since it began in 1986. In that time, Piedmont has performed more than 2,500 transplants, was the first in Georgia to perform laparoscopic kidney removal from a living donor, developed telemedicine and outreach clinics statewide, and has opened a state of the art HLA/immunology lab which provides necessary immunology testing of all transplant candidates throughout Georgia.
