the most beautiful sailing waters in Denmark, ANDERSEN is only 30 km away

from Billund International Airport, providing easy access for visitors and our

international net of dealers. Our 6000 square metres of facilities in Vejle are

equipped with the latest in tooling and manufacturing equipment, including

CNC/CAM machinery and industrial robot technology. Our team of engineers

and technicians combine computer-aided design processes with traditional

craftsmanship to produce what are quite simply the world’s best winches in

stainless steel.

ANDERSEN has half a century of experience serving the most demanding

customers in the world. Since the company was founded in 1953 we have

variable and multi-speed functions, the perfect

ANDERSEN Winches feature the Power Rib©.

Unlike other winches with abrasive drum sur-

faces, ANDERSEN winch drums have vertical ribs

running up the surface. This combined with

smooth polished stainless steel gives maximum

grip and minimum wear on ropes, reducing the

replacement costs of sheets and halyards.

What’s more, the Power Rib© principle simply

makes sailing more pleasurable. Fewer turns on

the winch make tacking easier. Sheets can be

gently eased out without harsh snatching and

the risks of overrides and jammed sheets are sig-

nificantly reduced. The grip provided by the ribs

will remain the same year after year, unlike

many other winches with an abrasive or sandpa-

per-like surface. Such surfaces have a tendency

to wear down both ropes and themselves.

Adjusting for Performance

The strong but gentle ANDERSEN self-tailing

system made from polished stainless steel meets

the most rigorous of safety and performance

requirements. Besides freeing your hands, the

ANDERSEN self-tailing device is designed to

accommodate a number of different sheet and

halyard sizes, enabling the winch to serve many

different purposes. Due to the backwind featu-

re the self-tailer is capable of running in both

directions. The self-tailing arm is curved to give

a fair lead, and because of the drum's holding

power, friction is kept to a minimum.

Our hydraulic Mega Yacht Winches deliver

more pulling effect per kilogram than ever

before. ANDERSEN Mega Yacht Winches© are

engineered to minimize the loss of energy in

transmission. Therefore a full 80% of energy

provided to the motor is readily available to

serve sail handling needs. This unpreceden-

ted efficiency is due to the unique construc-

tion principles of the built-in gearbox.

The stainless steel drum has many advanta-

ges. Each winch drum is precision-pressed

from a sheet of stainless steel – and not cast.

The result is a thin-walled drum being much

lighter but as strong as traditional cast

winches.

The pre-programmed PLC functions cover all

sail easing, through our integrated, motor-

controlled backwind function. The motor-

controlled backwind is a faster and more

manageable way to ease-off when dealing with

Features and Facts MATERIALS ANDERSEN Mega Yacht Winches© are fabricated in high quality

stainless steel and aluminium-bronze. All external surfaces are made of everlasting

highly polished AISI 316 stainless steel.

GEARBOX The construction principles of the built-in hydraulic planetary gearbox

provides for more mechanical power with less applied energy. The hardened and

tempered steel gearbox is partly running in an oil-bath to reduce maintenance

to a minimum.

PAWLS AND SPRINGS The newly developed pawl springs performs more

than 3 million activations without any failure in tests. This provides many years

of safe use. The pawls, made from machined EN.44.18 stainless steel, are so

strong that the winch never risks backing off.

SELF-TAILING The stripper-arm is adjustable in steps of 45 degrees. The self-

tailing is made to adjust automatically to different rope sizes, and is capable of

running in both directions.

HYDRAULIC MOTORS The highly efficient hydraulic bent axis motors are

extremely versatile meaning the functionality of the winch can be customized.

This makes variable or any number of speeds an available option. The motors can

be mounted in 4 different angles of 90 degrees.

BACKWIND ANDERSEN Mega Yacht Winches© with backwind can rotate in both

directions. This means both improved control and better safety, as the sheet can be

eased on and off by the hydraulic controls making trimming considerably easier.

MANUAL GEAR The 6000 and 9000 can also be supplied with 2 manual gears

without backwind.

SAFETY The performance and holding loads are checked through a computer-

analysed test for each winch. The ANDERSEN Mega Yacht Winches© are

controlled by a PLC device. The line speeds are automatically adjusted according

to the pulling load by the PLC, meaning that the hydraulic motor will always gear

down to the best suited speed/power needed for the job, even if the operator

tries to start the winch in the wrong gear for the pulling load. This guarantees

the maximum safety against overload.

FREE-WHEELING DRUM All the winch drums are free-wheeling through the

gear system. These principles are patented by ANDERSEN Winches©. This provides

for the unique feature of having a highly efficient planetary gear, which is also

capable of free-wheeling.

POWER RIB© Our unique Power Rib© system runs parallel to rope movement up

the polished drum. This gives a maximum grip and allows the drum to easily push

the turn upward, thus preventing riding turns. It also prevents the sheet making any

uncontrolled jumps when it is eased out under heavy load.

The smooth surface of the drum gives a low vertical sheet handling friction,

reducing the sheet wear and considerably extending the lifetime of the sheets.

The strong grip allows for reduced number of turns on the winch, making handling

- such as tacking – significantly easier.

VARIABLE SPEED The variable speed option is also a feature where

ANDERSEN Winches© makes a difference. It provides fully controlled sail handling

safe and easy. The winch is controlled through a proportional joystick control. The

line speed is adjusted by changing the volume of the motor. This means less oil flow

than other similar products.

ENGRAVING ON THE SELF-TAILING ARM As an option, the yacht’s name

etc. can be engraved on the self-tailing arm.

COLOUR COATING The external surfaces of the winch can be supplied in any

colour by means of an everlasting titanium coating.

WARRANTY ANDERSEN Mega Yacht Winch© units are provided with a 3 years

total worldwide warranty.
