Meeting with Alverno consultants on module intended outcomes, teaching & learning activities and assessment mode.Programme/module outcomes mapping to plan for OBL and curriculum alignmentQuestionnaire survey to find out the expectations of the ECE programmes by the early childhood education practitioners. Findings will help the programme to know what professional knowledge or generic skills need to be incorporated in curriculum planning for 335.
On successful completion of the BEd (ECE) programme, students are expected to:
1. have a sound understanding of the development, goal and recent trends of early childhood education and care within and outside Hong Kong;
2. have the ability to critically analyse the theoretical foundations of early childhood care and education in Hong Kong;
3. demonstrate professional knowledge and competence in assessing, designing and implementing quality programmes for children of 0-8 in the Hong Kong context;
4. create optimal learning contexts that promote the holistic development and wellbeing of infants, toddlers and young children;
5. communicate effectively and work collaboratively with a diverse group of stakeholders for the well-being of children; and
6. develop professional commitment and excellence through reflective practices and lifelong learning.
Upon successful completion of this module (The Young Child in a Technological World), students should be able to:
1. delineate the types of new technologies that young children are exposed to;
2. describe and critique the impact that information and communications technologies (ICT) shape and influence young children’s lives;
3. articulate the role of early childhood educators in mediating the use of new technologies by young children;
4. create a plan of integrated learning activities and curriculum with the use of new technologies; and
5. evaluate developmentally appropriate new technologies for young children.
