Join us for a Discussion on our NM Chapter of the American Holistic Nurses

Association

You are invited to participate in a sharing circle to discuss the significance and future direction of the NM Chapter of the American Holistic Nurses

Association (AHNA). What is your most meaningful experience from having participated in chapter events? What would you like to see for the future? The NM Chapter of the American Holistic Nurses Association (AHNA) was formed in May, 2009. Following the creation of the chapter, the group met to discuss and determine how the organization could best meet the needs and interests of its members. Members concluded the chapter is an organization of nurses and others who come together in community to mentor, honor, and support holistic nurses, to provide opportunities for celebration, and for personal and professional growth. The group described itself as "a circle of nurses who want to share our wisdom." The group sought to be loosely organized, understanding that any needed structure would develop if required. Shared leadership and monthly "Wisdom Makers" would constitute the basic organizational structure for the chapter. During those initial several months following the formation of the chapter, there were approximately 20 persons who regularly participated in chapter events. The Chapter now has over 100 individuals who have indicated an interest in our group and who receive monthly meeting reminders. Numbers continue to grow. Interest in holistic nursing is growing nationwide. The meeting will be facilitated by co-leader, Darlene Hess, our November "Wisdom Maker." If you are so inclined, please bring a snack to share with the group.
