Classroom Rules and Expectations

**Please speak with your homeroom teachers about other rules and procedures within their own rooms.

Power of “I” Grading FAILING IS NO LONGER AN OPTION!

 • This grading system puts more responsibility and accountability on the student

to do their assignments, turn them in on time, and take pride in their work and grades. This will make them effective students and give them a sense of success.

• The following steps are what will take place in the “Power of I” grading:– Any assignment that receives a grade lower than a 70% is considered an E. – The student may redo the assignment within the allotted time period given. – Once the assignment is properly redone, it will be reassessed for a higher

grade. – If not redone within the time period given, the student will keep their original

score.– If a test is lower than 70%, it must be redone with a parent signature.

Students may also have additional work to complete to verify they understand the material.

• All missing and E assignments are due within - 1 week for 7th graders- 3 days for 8th graders

Grades• Each student will be given a student ID number

so you can check grades on-line at any time; your log in information is at the bottom of your student’s schedule. If it gets misplaced, you can check with the office to obtain the information.

• Students will also be given a formal progress report that must be signed and returned mid-way through each trimester.

• FYI: PowerSchool is turned off the last week of each trimester. In order to see final grades, we strongly encourage attending Parent Teacher Conferences.

Elective Classes

• Electives are the same two classes every day for the entire trimester.

• Electives times:– First Elective: 8:30-9:30– Second Elective: 1:00-2:00

• You will receive two new electives each trimester.• The final schedule is not posted online until the

day of the new trimester. **What you see currently online for trimester two electives are not necessarily what your child will have. Please wait until the trimester begins to request a change of class.

Book Reports

• Each 7th and 8th grade student is required to finish at least one book report each Trimester. This is an outside of class activity.

• Students must turn in a book report for each book they read. An outline of information to be included in the report will be given to students, as well as an example report for reference.

• If your child says they do not have homework, they can always read for their book report.

– Roughly $800.00 per person (including flight, meals, activities, hotel, etc.)– Chaperones will have to pay the $800.00 as well.

•We will have a parent meeting on Wednesday, September 23rd at 6:00pm in the theater.
