In November 2011 Faith Family officially

opened a clinic at Tusculum Cumberland

Presbyterian Church, located at 3016

Nolensville Road. The clinic is open

on Saturdays and is staffed by Faith

Family nurse practitioner Liz Threlkeld

and volunteers from the church.

Faith Family’s wellness program,

Journey to Health, continues to thrive.

By December 31, 2011, a majority of

diabetic patients in the program had

achieved significantly improved blood

pressure and lipid control, as well as

improved blood glucose readings.

To celebrate Faith Family’s partnership

with NSAI, the Bluebird Cafe hosted

a songwriter night on October 5th to

benefit the clinic. Songwriters Wayland

Holyfield, Steve Bogard, Brett James and

Monty Powell played to a sold out crowd.

Meet Our Patient: Ann Lower

OFFERING HOPE & HEALING

Ann Lower’s family has gone

without health insurance for many

years, a burden many families

unfortunately face. Ann’s husband

is a FedEx subcontractor driver,

and as a subcontractor, health

coverage is not offered.

“Faith Family has been a lifesaver

since day one,” Ann explained.

After coming to Faith Family through the urging of friends at church, she was prescribed

treatment for several conditions, and kept Faith Family as the source of medical care for

her entire family.

About a year ago Ann saw Dr. Jim Daniell, OB/GYN at Faith Family, one of many specialists

that devote time and talent to Faith Family patients in need of more than primary care. Ann

was able to receive a Well Woman exam at the clinic, thanks to funding from the Women’s

Fund of the Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee. After reviewing results of the

exam, Dr. Daniell discovered that Ann would need surgery, which was scheduled with Dr.

Laura Forbes at Centennial Medical Center.

Following the surgery, Ann is pain and symptom free. Most importantly, she is able to

resume her normal life without fear. When asked about her recovery, she replied, “I am

so pleased with how I’ve been treated at Faith Family, and how everything went.

God’s making it easy on me.”

Faith Family had a successful season of celebration this past

fall – marking 10 years of serving the working uninsured. As

we continue to support our community through affordable

primary care, we trust your support and prayers will continue

with us throughout our journey.

Many exciting developments have taken place recently.

Our Saturday clinic at Tusculum Cumberland Presbyterian

Church is up and running! This location has been in

consistent demand over the last 6 months. We know this

site is an easily accessible location for many individuals, and

hope that the Saturday option will be of help to patients

unable to get to the clinic during the workweek.

As our Board of Directors continues to evolve and grow, we

are pleased to welcome 6 new board members in 2012: Dr.

BobAlford,JohnCrawford,KathyGibson,NancyHolyfield,

Dr. Randy Howard, and Rev. Clay Stauffer. Faith Family is thankful for the leadership of our

Board of Directors, and we look forward to an exciting year ahead.

To kick off Faith Family’s milestone 10th birthday, the clinic hosted several prayer

days, a songwriter night at the Bluebird Cafe, and a Sunday Supper for major donors.

This season of celebration would not have been complete without our 3rd Annual

Birthday Breakfast held on November 9, 2011. This year’s breakfast was the

biggest yet, with over 350 attendees, raising a total of over $145,000. Faith Family

recognized three very important supporters at the breakfast: Board Member and

advocate Dr. Bob Alford, volunteer physical therapist Katie Regan, and Baptist

Hospital, which supports Faith Family by providing our facility. We were pleased

to have keynote speaker Reverend Clay Stauffer, Senior Minister of Woodmont

Christian Church. He urged attendees to live out their beliefs by supporting the

work of Faith Family.
