This is a wonderful time to get up and get moving! I’m particularly excited as this is my first summer here at the Springdale Community Center, and I can’t wait to enjoy activities with all of you. The Community Center is all a buzz with activities for Adults/Seniors and the entire family. Pool season is just around the corner as well as community events including Family Fun Day, the Cardboard Regatta and Concerts in the Park! Please join us for the Ohio One-Mile Walk, outdoor Pickleball and our summer Lunch and Lawn Games. Look for additional information on these and other activities in this issue of the Scoop. Circus - Part 1 Luncheon Wednesday, May 23 12:15 p.m. Come one and all to hear about the fascinating life of P.T. Barnum, Founder of the Barnum and Bailey Circus and enjoy a delicious lunch of fried chicken, cole slaw, and dessert. Rita Wetterstroem will tell us about the early beginnings of the Circus and share photos of the famous P.T. Barnum. Be sure to register by May 20 at the Springdale Community Center or call 346-3910. Cost is $7.50 for members and $10.00 for guests. Mother's Day Dessert & Coffee Wednesday, May 9 1:00 p.m. Ladies and gentlemen please join us for a celebration honoring mothers, daughters, and special women in our lives. We will have tasty bites and coffee featuring the beautiful music of the harp played by Heather McGrath. Be sure to register at the Springdale Community Center or call 346-3910 by Monday, May 7. Technology 101 May 5, 12, 26 Take advantage of this opportunity for private instructions on your iPad, smart phone, notebook, or other mobile devices. Instructions on the computer in the Senior Lounge are also available. Appointments are 45 minutes in length on Saturday mornings, at 9:30 a.m., 10:30 a.m., and 11:30 a.m. Participants should bring their fully charged mobile device with them to the appointment. To secure a convenient time, register early with payment of $3.00! This program is for Springdale Community Center membes only. Please one appointment per person. Concerts in the ParkThe Springdale Parks and Recreation Department presents Concerts in the Park! We will have energetic live entertainment in the outdoor amphitheater behind the Springdale Community Center. So bring your family and friends to our Free two part evening summer concert series. Our local Springdale Youth Boosters will have food and cold beverages for sale.

Pool HoursMonday-Friday 12:15-8:00 p.m.Saturday 12:00-5:00 p.m.Sunday 1:00-6:00 p.m.The pool will close at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesdays for swim meets and 6:00 p.m. on Thursdays for Adult Swim. Adult Swim Lessons Thursdays, 6:30-7:30 p.m. June 7 – July 26Our easy going instructors will work with you at your own ability level and at a pace comfortable to you. Register at the Springdale Community Center.

Family Fun DaySunday, June 17, 2:00 p.m.Spend part of Father’s Day with dad and the rest of the family at the annual Family Fun Day at the Pool…We’ll be offering popular activities throughout the day including: rubber duck races, balloon launch, master splasher, desk art, and a few others. The event is free to pool members.

Cardboard RegattaSunday, July 8 2:00 p.m.Calling all captains and crews! Get ready to shove-off in your homemade cardboard boat! Amateur boat builders of all ages will be challenged to design, build and race boats made entirely of cardboard and tape. All vessels must be powered by the captain or crew with homemade oars. This event is free to pool members. Register at the Community Center by July 1.

Ohio's One-MileFitness Walk

Wednesday, May 16 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. Springdale Parks & Recreation would like to invite all community members to join us at the 1-mile fitness walk. The 20 minute walk will take place at the Springdale Community Center from 11a.m. - 1 p.m. If there is inclement weather, the walk will be moved indoors. Each participant will receive light refreshments. For more information please call Jay at 513-346-3910.

Craft DayTuesday, June 26 1:00 p.m.

Its spring planting time and your garden is calling! Join us to create a painted pot for your deck or garden. Don’t have much space? Put a pretty flower pot on your window sill for fresh herbs. Be sure to register at the Springdale Community Center or call 346-3910 by Tuesday, June 19.

Lunch & Lawn GamesWednesday, June 6 12:00 p.m.

It’s time again for fun, food, and friends to head outdoors to the picnic grove behind the Community Center. Let’s come together with friends and play games such as corn hole, bocce ball, ladder toss and pickleball. A tasty lunch of hamburgers, potato salad and drinks will be served. Cost is $7.50 for members and $10:00 for guests. Be sure to register at the Springdale Community Center or call 346-3910 by Friday, June 1.
