TNB PD Online Mapping System
• Very High Speed Integrated Circuit Hardware Description Language (VHDL) and C language for Signal Analysis Module.
• The software record the data (with time stamping) in a buffer and transmit the data packet (every 30 minutes) to the base station for processing.
• Microsoft Visual C++ for base station.
• It used for analyze and process PD data for time stamping and mapping of PD activities the tested circuit in real-time.

• Verification of TNB Online PD Mapping system was conducted based on Offline OWTS test result.
• Test results shows various condition of PD activities in the circuits tested such as PD at termination, multiple PD activities, scattered PD and no PD activities.
• It can be concluded that accuracy of TNB Online PD Mapping detection rate is at 80% as compared to Offline OWTS PD Mapping System.

• Severity index algorithm has been developed to determine cable condition based on TNB Online PD Mapping test.
• The algorithm need to be compared with existing Offline PD Mapping result to determine effectiveness of proposed recommendation and action.
• More data needs to be collected to strengthen the TNB Online PD Mapping severity level index.

Severity Level
Action
Severity < 2 Normal. The monitoring periodicity of all tests can be maintained at 24 months. Practice partial discharge test if necessary.
2 < Severity < 5
Retest the cable for partial discharge after 6 months. The monitoring periodicity of all tests should be revised to 6 months.
5 < Severity < 7
Retest the cable for partial discharge after 3 months. Arrange for replacement of defective section(s).
Severity > 7 Indicates serious problem requiring immediate evaluation, additional testing and consultation with experts. Recommendation is to remove from service immediately and replace the cable.
Severity index algorithm developed requires more data to determine the effectiveness of proposed recommendation
