Mediterranean Duo(Luiz Mello and Svetlina Stoyanova)
While talking about Spanish music, it is important to bear in
mind we are
talking about one culture only. Spain embodies one of the widest
culture blends
in the world. Bizantines, ndians, !rabians from a huge "ariety
of ethnicities and
#ews ha"e all been there, lea"ing indelible traces of their
tradition on the Spanish
culture, not to mention the cultural e$change between Spain and
its colonies in
%atin !merica. &his mi$ture is centuries old and it is so
intertwined that now it is
almost impossible to spot clearly the origin of each of its
facets.
Surely, one of the most beautiful e$amples of such a syncretism
can be
found on Spanish music. Spanish traditional music is e$'uisitely
represented by
composers as Manuel de alla, )arcia %orca, #oa'uin *odrigo,
+nri'ue )ranadosby -a"ier Montsal"atge and e"en )eorges Bizet on
behalf of %atin !merican
music.
&he Mediterranean Duo is dedicated to Spanish repertoire and
its history,
aiming to present it in all of its colours. We hope you enoying
listening it as
much as we do working on it.

Luiz Mello (guitar/
Brazilian classical guitarist %uiz Mello has
e$perience as a classical guitar teacher
chamber musician, soloist and
researcher. !s a teacher, he worked withdi0erent kind of
students, from children
(1illa2%obos Museum/ and regular
teacher at the !+&+3 (Support
oundation to &echnical School/ and with
music workshops for people under
chemical dependence in a rehab clinic
(ranco Basaglia nstitution/. !s a
performer, he e$celled as a
soloist and also as a chamber musician.
4e has performed with the Duo 1ieira2
Mello at se"eral music "enues, as nga
Museum and 1illa2%obos Museum (in the
56th 1illa2%obos esti"al/. 4e presented
the same work, as well as the world
premier of the Cinco Cantigas de Amor
(i"e %o"e Songs/, from the Brazilian
composer 7elson Macedo, at the West
+nd esti"al 89:;.
4e wrote the paper called ortuguese magazine
)uitarra 3lassica. 4e has also studied
with great names of the classical guitar,
as %eo Soares, &uribio Santos and #orge
3aballero.
n 89::, he was awarded with a full
scholarship to the Bachelor of Music
(4onours/ in >erformance course at the*oyal 3onser"atoire of
Scotland,
studying under guidance of !llan 7ea"e
and theorbo with #amie !kers. 4e also
integrates the baro'ue ensemble of this
institution, as well as the baro'ue
ensemble of the )lasgow ?ni"ersity.

Svetlina Stoyanova (mezzo-soprano)
Svetlina Stoyanova (born in August 14th, 1991)
is a Bulgarian mezzo-soprano. She sang in the
Chilren!s Choir o" the Bulgarian #ational
raio $ith the "oremost musi%al a%aemi% in
Bulgaria &risto #eyal'ov "or 1 years. As
the main soloist o" the %hoir she embar'e on
%on%ert tours aroun many uropean an
Asian %ountries, in%luing
*apan, China, S$itzerlan, +taly an
others. She has sung "or the *apanese Cro$n
rin%e, the resient o" Bulgaria an many
other in"luential people. Svetlina $as alsoinvite to sing at a
Christmas %harity %on%ert
organise by Countess sther e ommery in
