The topic I chose after not a lot of thinking was Medicine. Medicine has a very heavy burden to hold. The lives of billions of people and the well-being of the whole world. So what would be interesting questions for such a wide topic. So in the end my questions were:

How have medicines effected how we live and how have medicines improved over time?

What would our lives be like without medicines? And then I just turned them into statements. Our lives would not be the same without medicine. Medicine has affected how we live and have improved over

time.

I hope that the progress of the medical world will continue at the rate it’s going currently. Hopefully we can find a cure for cancer very soon and have a cure for AIDS because both of these diseases are becoming common, can cause much pain and are incurable. There are human diseases which need a cure and hopefully we can cure them all as quickly as we can. The world is in dire need of medicine but if we do achieve to make a cure for a disease and save thousands of lives is it really for the best? Do we really need more lives to use up the limited resources we have. To survive we need more resources or less people ?

When has medicines affected our lives the most?  You can’t say. Every one would have a different opinion

because different medicines have changed their lives differently .

Why have medicines been so important to us? It has saved the lives of millions of people and has given

them healthier, longer lives. What medicine has had the most impact on the world? You can’t actually say one thing has affected the world more

than another. Every medical discovery has had an effect on the world. Just some more then others. From penicillin to Seritide for asthmatics . All medical discoveries have saved peoples lives or changed them forever.

When was the earliest form of medicine made? Believe it or not medicines have been used on earth way

before 450BC. In 460BC was the birth of Hippocrates who was considered to be the father of medicine and the founder of the first university in history.

Will medicine ever stop changing our lives? Definitely not, there are many discoveries to be made, many

cures to be found and a very long future ahead of us.

My Five Whys for my first line of inquiry Medicine has affected how we live and has changed our lives.

Why would our lives not be the same? That’s quite simple. Imagine every day without any

medicine. You get a simple cold and in the olden days they would say you’re going to die. Even a simple panadol for head aches.

What would our lives be like today without medicine? Very hard to imagine. Whenever you have a problem you

could go to the doctor and he’ll tell you you’re sick but imagine he gives you nothing to cure yourself? You’ll have to live through the coughing, sneezing and the runny nose.

How were lives lived without medicine? Very hard to say because the world we live in is filled with

medicines every where you go. With no medicines the world would not be the same. Every day you might see people dying left right and centre with the simplest of illnesses.

When was the first medical discovery made? The first made around 460 BC. Why are deadly medicines still in production? Some medicines do more then good if they are not delivered

under proper guidance such as morphine, some are so harmful that they can be called poisons instead of medicines.

The fives whys for my second line of inquiry Our lives would not be the same without medicine. (Causation)
