Neuroscientists have proven that even after brain damage, the brain can remodel, adapt and change. This is cal- led neuroplasticity which refers to the ability of synapses, nerve cells or entire brain areas to ch- ange their features depending on their use. Neu- roplasticity leads to improved signal transmissi- on at synapses, and therefore makes learning processes for patients possible again. With the founding of the first center for clinical neuroplasti- city in Germany, Medical Park Loipl recognizes the importance of supporting patients return to their daily life in the best way possible. At the opening symposium, several renowned speakers intro- duced their work in regard to neuroplasticity. For example Ms. Teresa Wong from Singapore who has previously spoken for TedxHonolulu about the modern art of recovery and Dr. Manuela Macedo- nia about the impact of movement on the brain. In addition to numerous lectures, Prof. Dr. Peter Rieckmann - Chief Physician Medical Park Loipl showcased the latest treatment technologies and gave visitors the opportunity to learn about neuro- plasticity therapy in every day hospital life. Medical Park attends Medic West Africa in Nigeria The Medic West Africa is the leading health- care business platform in the West African re- gion. For the 9th time, the Medic West Africa brought the West African healthcare communi- ty together to establish business relationships with foreign countries in the health sector. 200 companies from 32 countries showcased the latest healthcare technology, products and services. Nigeria is currently one of the most promising marketplaces in Africa. The West African country scores with its stable economic situation with a rising gross domestic product. The medical sector, in particular, is benefiting from this. Nigeria‘s medical industry generated over 35 billion USD last year. At this year’s exhi- bition, companies from Germany had the oppor- tunity to present themselves at the community booth of the German Chamber of Foreign Trade. Medical Park took this opportunity to ex- pand its existing business relations with Nigeria and to further emphasize the importance of comprehensive treatment from acute hospital through to rehabi- litation. Urological Rehabilitation at Medical Park Blumenhof Medical Park has specialized facilities that dedicate their resources to particular indica- tions in rehabilitation. The urological depart- ment at our rehabilitation hospital Medical Park Blumenhof covers the entire spectrum of urological rehabilitation.
