Cu and SODCu and SOD Two copper-transporting P-type ATPases and a novel family of proteins are

termed copper chaperones, which deliver copper to specific targets within the cell. Elucidation of the structure and function of these proteins reveals a remarkable evolutionary conservation of the mechanisms of copper and iron metabolism, provides novel insights into the mechanisms of metal metabolism in the central nervous system and may allow for the development of novel therapeutic approaches to prevent or ameliorate neurodegeneration in affected patients.

Cancer and Vitamin CCancer and Vitamin C Up to 46% have scurvy or absolute lack of

Vitamin C Test for phagocytosis

Normal in vitro levels of 40%-70% engulfing of yeast cells. Many cancer patients 1%-2%

After Vitamin C Therapy back up to typical phagocytosis

ScurvyScurvy

Vitamin C deficiencies result in scurvy which affects tissues rich in collagen. Because proline and lysine residues are not hydroxylated, hydrogen bonding within triple helices and cross-linking between triple helices cannot occur. Therefore, collagen molecules are unstable characterized by bleeding gums, loose teeth, skin lesions, and weakened blood vessel walls.

Vitamin C Cont:Vitamin C Cont: Vitamin C induces large amounts of Hydrogen

Peroxide with normal cells produce adequate catalase and cancer cells do not.

Vitamin C can kill these tumor cells and is calculated based on serum levels.

Levels may be between 25-150 grams!More than may be ingested Such amount ingested may cause severe diarrhea

With G6PD deficiency Vitamin C therapy could destroy erythrocytes.

Stress and Low Vitamin CStress and Low Vitamin C

Production of cortisol consumes Vitamin C in the production of epinephrine.
