Why choose this course?This course is taught by activeresearchers and practitioners, who willinspire and challenge you and help you toget the most out of your studies. The staffwho teach the theoretical modules haveall been published, and those who deliverthe practical components have first handexperience of working in the mediaindustries.

What you’ll coverAbout the courseThis course will introduce you to the studyand practice of a range of media formsand institutions. It focuses on how mediaengages with society, with practice basedmodules encouraging your creativity andunderstanding of the shaping of mediaproducts.

You'll develop a high level of medialiteracy and an understanding of mediapower and manipulation.

How you’ll learnTeaching is delivered through a range ofmethods: lectures, seminars, practicalworkshops and tutorials.

We’ve previously run trips to PinewoodStudios and recently we took students tothe UK Asian Music Awards to give theman opportunity to gain work experience.

Your careerCareers talks are arranged each year andformer students have gone on to work inTV researching, film and TV production,public relations, marketing, film archiving,web design, radio presenting orproduction and newspapers. Others usedtheir degree for higher level entry into, forexample, the Civil Service, publicrelations, charity management, customerservices, further education or teaching.
