Why choose this course?It's a practical course which gives youknowledge across a range of inter-relatedmedia. All of our courses are taught byactive researchers and practitioners, whowill inspire and challenge you and helpyou to get the most out of your studies.The staff who teach the theoreticalcourses and modules have all published,and those who deliver the practicalcomponents have first hand experience ofworking in the media industries.
What you’ll coverAbout the courseThis course will introduce you to the studyand practice of a range of media formsand institutions. It focuses on how mediaengages with society, with practice basedmodules encouraging your creativity andunderstanding of the shaping of mediaproducts.
You'll develop a broad understanding ofproducing media products as you'llreceive hands-on experience ofproduction and the process of designingand producing media texts.
How you’ll learnAs well as lectures, you’ll have anopportunity to go on a number of trips.Previous trips have been arranged to theLondon Film Festival, the NationalMuseum for Photography, Film andTelevision in Bradford and the DerbyTelegraph.
Your careerThis course prepares you for a career inthe media by giving you lots of practicalskills and knowledge. What you learncould help you go on to find work as aproducer or maker of media products,such as TV or radio programmes,newspapers or websites.

Our facilities are constantly upgraded toensure you are using the same equipmentand software you will be expected to usein the industry.
In our state of the art media suite atMarkeaton Street we have some of thebest post-production facilities in thecountry with over 150 Final Cut Pro X andPremiere Pro editing workstations, and 4craft editing suites with Avid Nitris DXfacilities.
