Pitching coach #35 Richard Salazar• Salazar is in his second season coaching in the Minnesota Twins organization, his first as the E-Twins pitching coach.• Last season, Salazar was the pitching coach for the Gulf Coast League Twins.• Born in Venezuela, Salazar was drafted by the Orioles in the 13th round of the 2001 MLB Draft out of Miami-Dade
College. He played in the Orioles system until 2007, reaching as high as AAA with the Norfolk Tides.• After his time with Baltimore, Salazar played Indepedent Baseball for 10 seasons, between the the American
Association and CanAm League.• Salazar was hired by Minnesota out of the CanAm league, where he was a pitcher and pitching coach for the Rockland
Boulders.
hitting coach #1 Jeff Reed• 2019 marks Reed’s 17th season with the E-Twins as their hitting coach.• Reed is a long time Elizabethton resident, having met his wife while playing for the Twins in 1980.• Reed was the Minnesota Twins’ first-round draft pick (12th overall) in 1980 and went on to play 17 seasons of Major
League Baseball, between the Twins (1984–1986), Montreal Expos (1987–1988), Cincinnati Reds (1988–1992), San Francisco Giants (1993–1995), Colorado Rockies (1996–1998) and Chicago Cubs (1999–2000).
• Across 1234 lifetime MLB games, 1071 of them as a ctacher, Reed was a .250 hitter, clubbing 61 home runs and driving in 323 runs. His best year came in 1997 with the Colorado Rockies, where he hit .297 across 90 games with 17 home runs and 47 runs batted in, all single-season career highs for him.
• With the Cincinatti Reds, Reed caught Tom Browning’s perfect game on September 16, 1988, then won the World Series with Cincinatti in 1990, when the Reds beat the Oakland Athletics 4-0.

States to play baseball collegiately.• After playing in college, Yoshi played Independent League baseball, in the Canadian Baseball League in 2003 and the
Golden Baseball League in 2005 and 2009.• He got his start in coaching with an Indy team, the Sonoma Stompers of the Pacific Association. After beginning as the
Stompers’ bench coach in 2015, he assumed managerial duties partway through the season and managed Sonoma through 2017, before being hired by the Twins.
• His 123 wins with the Stompers are the most all-time for a Sonoma skipper.• Miyoshi is featured heavily in the New York Times bestselling book “The Only Rule Is It Has To Work: Our Wild
Experiment Building a New Kind of Baseball Team,” by Ben Lindberg and Sam Miller. The book Miyoshi’s as the most open-minded member of the coaching staff when it comes to bringing sabermetrics and advanced statistics to Indy Ball.
• 2019 marks Ray Smith’s 33rd year on the Elizabethton Twins coaching staff and 26th as the manager of the E-Twins.
• Last season, Smith managed his 1,000th victory with the Twins and enters this year with an all-time managerial record in Elizabethton of 1015-667 (.603).
• Through Smith’s first 25 years as managerm, his teams have combined to outscore opponents 9375 to 7402 (+1973 Diff)
• His 25 teams have made the playoffs 16 times, including eight Appalachain League championships (1989, 2003, 2005, 2007, 2008, 2012, 2017, 2018).
