2HISTORYHamodia was founded in 1910 in Eastern Europe by the leading Torah leaders of that time to be the authentic voice of Orthodox Jewry. From its inception, Hamodia was dedicated to speaking for the Torah community.

Since its founding, Hamodia’s editorials and opinion columns have reflected the moral and ethical values of honesty in the home, in business and in the political arena.

After WWII Hamodia was re-launched in Israel in 1950 as a daily newspaper by Agudath Israel, the international umbrella organization of Torah-true Jewry. It has since grown into a prestigious source of news and a reliable interpreter of world events and community affairs for its ever-growing readership.

Today, English language editions of both the daily and weekly Hamodia remain faithful to those early, pioneering fundamentals while providing a wide variety of news, information, opinion, columns, features, contests and advertising to hundreds of thousands of discerning readers.

Join the Hamodia family of advertisers by calling the Daily Newspaper of Torah Jewry: 718-HAMODIA (853-9094)

3READERSHIP PROFILE

Hamodia is the primary source of news and information for tens of thousands of educated Orthodox Jewish families. Many readers consider it their reliable source for world events and current affairs. For the majority of readers, Hamodia is their only source of media, and is therefore read from cover to cover.

What is Hamodia?

Hamodia readers attempt to distance themselves from contemporary culture. In order to shelter their families from negative influences, most of their homes have no television, and most of the popular periodicals never get past the front door. Instead, they see Hamodia as their “window to the world” and count on Hamodia to ensure that they are fully informed about world events and current affairs. For a majority of our readership, Hamodia is the only media conduit to the family. Advertisers may spend millions on a Super Bowl commercial, and practically none of our readers will see it. But this hard-to-reach audience will read your ad in Hamodia.

Hamodia is more than a newspaper reporting current events with accuracy and integrity. Hamodia presents insightful weekly columns, authored by renowned and respected scholars and thinkers, that reinforce the values and moral standards of our readership. They read it from cover to cover with great interest.

5DEMOGRAPHICS

Hamodia reaches a very desirable but otherwise hard-to-reach target market — family-centered, communally active, highly motivated consumers. Hamodia readers deliberately exclude most other media (television, magazines and newspapers) from their homes for ideological reasons — an exclusion that is very unlikely to waver. The age range of Hamodia’s readership is a broad one; Hamodia provides material of interest to the entire family. Its core readership in the United States is primarily concentrated in major metropolitan areas of the Northeast, Midwest, West Coast, and South Florida. Worldwide, the readership is located primarily in major urban Jewish communities around the globe.

Peter Drucker famously forecast the rise of the “information worker.” That term describes much of Hamodia’s readership — affluent, upwardly mobile entrepreneurs, professionals, and educators who, because they are well-regarded by their community and business associates, also influence the tastes of others in business and consumer products. Hamodia’s readers are family-oriented and

invest heavily in their families’ current and future needs. Some of this investment is in financial products, both conventional (life insurance, bank accounts, stocks, mutual funds) and less conventional (hedge funds, real estate, private equity, venture capital), some in education and consumer durables (computer equipment, spacious homes, furnishings and vehicles), and some in higher-quality food, health care and other staples. Domestic and international travel for business and/or recreational purposes is part and parcel of their budgets as well.

They are serious investors, focusing on growth and long-term security. Their financial interests and needs are varied, ranging from dependence on all types of insurance, secure investments and savings plans to more aggressive investment strategies. You can reach these prosperous consumers by placing your ad in Hamodia.
