Media evaluation Evaluation Q2: How effective is the combination of your main product and ancillary texts? As stated in the previous evaluation we tried as a group to make the package have a running theme throughout the different products. We maintained the idea and colour of darkness throughout each product. For example the use of black in the digi-pack/poster and the use of dark lighting in the music video. For example the links between the digi-pack and the magazine advert are very strong as they use the same design choices. The album cover itself is featured on the magazine advert so that if a fan or someone who found it attractive could identify and recognize the album and the Deathbats from the band Avenged Sevenfold. Part of the actual album is also displayed on the advert again further reinforcing this idea of recognition and identification through the use of these media products. There are also some similarities between the music video and the ancillary texts whereby the song name is written on a piece of paper during the music video. Also lyrics from the song are printed onto the digi-pack which can be seen done by other artists in real media products. As stated in the previous evaluation we also included a shot from the music video on the digi-pack to keep the consistency of location. Again like the poster this will hopefully be identifiable if someone has watched either the music video or seen the advert and will be able to make the connection that it is the same band without being told so. Therefore I think that they work in good combination. We then included a picture of the band playing in the woods for both consistency and to relate to real media products as many other bands use this.

Evaluation Q2: How effective is the combination of your main product and ancillary texts?
