Greetings Superstar Parents!
Welcome back to another new school year! As we move into another great year of teaching and learning, I look forward to our continued growth here at Bent.
We continue to strive to educate our Superstars as best as we can so that they can reach their fullest potential. We have a lot to celebrate as we move into the 2017-18 school year. Let us continue the commitment to excellence for our school, our families, and especially for our students.
We have some changes and additions to our staff this year. Please join me in welcoming the following team members: Lyndsay Gloede - Assistant Principal/Intern, Kayley Henderson – Bilingual Resource Teacher, Julie Hesse – Psychologist, Jessica Nesby – Social Worker, and Colleen Stern – Speech-Language Pathologist.
This summer Bent added a second parking lot that is now open and ready for use. As always, our crew did a fantastic job cleaning and getting the school ready for the students, even when last minute repairs influenced their cleaning schedule.
Thank you to Theresa, Rodney, and the crew for all of their hard work!

I hope you all had a healthy and safe summer!
Thank you all for turning in any health related paperwork for the beginning of the school year. Just a reminder that if your student has a food allergy, I will need a food substitution form filled out by a physician and turned in to me. The form can be found on the district 87 website under useful forms and then medical forms. Every year, we need a new form filled out for your child.
This is also true for any medication that needs to be given at school. Please do not send any medication to school in the backpack. It can be dropped off at the office by a parent or guardian. If you ever have any questions, don’t hesitate to call me, and I will be glad to talk to you.
Here’s to a healthy and safe school year!
Welcome back to school Superstars! I am looking forward to a great year in the Library Media Center! All students come to classes in the media center weekly.

News: Hot off the
Negative Balance Policy
When students are unable to pay for meals, District 87 will
process charges to the student’s account. When a student
owes the equivalent of 3 meals, they will receive a complete
“alternate” meal entrée until the parent/guardian
established a payment plan with the District. Students will
not be allowed to charge a la carte items if their account is
delinquent.
The District will notify parents/guardians of negative account
balances through weekly automated phone calls and letters
home from the cafeteria staff. A final notice will be sent to
families with negative balances in May prior to school ending
with a deadline clearly stated to avoid being turned over to
collections. Any unpaid meal charges will be carried over at
year end and applied to the following school year.
Those who qualified for Free or Reduced meals in 2015-2016 are required to complete a new
application before the carryover period expires on September 29, 2017. Those who are Directly
Certified do not require an application. *If you have a student in your household who is Directly
Certified and another who is not, please let us know so that we can extend benefits to that child!*
If your students eat free or reduced lunch, they can get free or reduced breakfast too! Please take
advantage of our well-balanced breakfast that will help the students jump start their day for a bright
mind ready to learn!
