Photography should provide the viewers with different perspectives. One of the easiest way to achieve this is to change the angles of photographs by lowering or raising the position of the camera. Incidentally, the Rule of Thirds and the Principle of Unequal Spacing work towards this end. No one sees the world off-center or unbalanced, and thus off-center (the Rule of Thirds) or unbalanced (the Principle of Unequal Spacing) compositions provide the viewers with different perspectives. Similarly, we often see the world from the same vantage point. Even by slightly lowering or raising that vantage point, ordinary scenes can be transformed to extraordinary compositions. Lowering or raising camera angles have another merit. We can oftentimes instantaneously obtain simpler backgrounds by having a sky or ground as background without relocating the subject or ourselves, thereby resolving potential merger and/or alignment issues. You will take and assemble 10 high angle photos and 10 low angle photos. You may choose any subjects or themes. For example, you may be going on a trip. All you need to do is to take photos during that trip but be mindful about those photos taken from low angles and high angles. All photos need to be photos taken during Term 2. As usual, your photos will be evaluated with regards to Composition, Creativity, Variation, and Core Theme. MEDIA ARTS 11 ASSIGNMENT 15 PHOTOGRAPHY: LOW AND HIGH ANGLES
