General Idea #1: Sugar And Spice

Two girls who are seemingly opposite are forced to work together on a school project which will have a massive impact on their final grade of the year.

After spending time together they both soon realise they’re more alike than they’d first thought.

The general meaning of the film would be how clique’s and reputations get in the way of friendships and bonding of other clique’s.

General Idea #2: The League Of Un co-ordination

Several teenagers across the country find themselves forced into attending one of the

countries most advance Research Facilities due to their unexplainable ‘abilities’. This film will

explore how each teenager in this situation differs from the next.

This film may be hard to capture regarding the powers but ideas and characters wise, if we went with this idea, we would have so much more to

work with and make the characters really bloom.

A few ideas for The League Of Un Co-ordination

Introduction- Each character will be introduced individually.

They will be shown entering a room on there own, however the camera is only on their feet. The next shot will then be a still photo of the character, looking glum and objective. Then I plan to have the screen go white and have the information of each character typed on as if it were being recorded into a computer- For example

Name: Lace Hitch DOB: 07/05/92

Entrance date of facility: 2nd February 2009

Diagnosis: Unknown - N/A

One example: A dog is shown entering the said room, struggling excitedly on a lead that is being held by a guard (shot only on the feet of the two). Then on the photo it will be a boy but with the same lead around his neck. Then the character will be shown then exiting the room as a dog- without the guard.

We asked our target audience which genre they most liked to watch and most enjoy. Comedy and Action are the most popular and we plan to try

and merge the two of those genre’s casually together within our short film. Although Action more often than not requires a climax, for an event to

build up. This being a short film, we may not have enough time.

Immortality

We asked our target audience which power they would most like to have and here are the results. Unfortunately the most popular was flight- which is highly doubtful to achieve but the majority of the

other powers seem to be do able with one technique or the other- by manipulating shots or using special effects.

Powers elaborationAlthough we cannot attempt the power flight, the second two

most popular were Telepathy and Shape shifting. These are powers we could probably try and make good work of.

This works quite well with our original plans of including a boy who can shape shift into a dog. We plan to display this by

having the character change states from shot to shot when he plans to change.

As for telepathy, we could show this by showing a character to focus on their ‘victim’, and have an echoey voice of the

victim over the shot of them. E.g.:- A close up shot of the Telepathic character’s eyes; Focusing on

something.- A shot of another character more or less unaware

- An echoey voice over would be placed over the shots used, using the characters voice- This would represent their inner voice, their

thoughts.

We picked a few popular characters that are featured in films. From the results, the target audience tend to prefer a rebel. So this type of character will no doubt be featuring in

our short film

Conclusion

Judging by the research- I think which ever idea we choose to go for, the majority of the target audience will enjoy it. However providing we can get the hang of applying special effects, we are more drawn to the

2nd film idea as it will give us the opportunity to feature more types of characters and a wider selection of

comedy or action moments due to having ‘powers’
