Treatment Strategies

• A comprehensive evaluation of the efficacy of MV treatment has been

hindered by the lack of randomized clinical trials

• Retrospective studies have shown valve repair to be optimal treatment

with lower perioperative mortality and long-term morbidity, increased

survival and preservation of LV function
