WHAT IS MEC?

mec engineering, p.s.c. (mec), is a multidisciplinary professional services corporation with professional engineers registered in puerto rico and the us virgin island for the purpose of providing engineering and design services with offices located in the san juan, puerto rico.

COMPANY EXPERIENCE

MEC has more than 15 years of Architectural & Engineering design experience, which include design of transmission and distribution lines, power plants, substations, commercial/residential architectural design, rehabilitation of existing structures and interior design projects. Technical consulting has also been provided for a wide range of customers in the industry. For all projects, MEC assigns project teams with the optimal combination of experience and skills to meet unique project requirements.

EXPERIENCE OF PERSONNEL

The MEC team of engineers, project managers, designers, and CAD personnel has many years of experience in Architectural / Engineering services and are familiar with the codes, standards and regulations as well as with the equipment and system needs of this industry. Our engineers are all licensed engineers; most are involved with engineering organizations associated within the power industry such as the IEEE, the SIEPR, CSI, NSPE, NFPA and CIGRE.

on 2014, rge was awarded the projects for the mechanical and electrical construction of vitol’s lpg conversion projects at viwapa’s power plants in st. thomas and st. croix. rge contracted mecto provide engineering support during construction to the areas inside each power plant, including as-built, pipe routing, support design, mechanical and electrical design.

on 2013, puma energy caribe, llc began refurbishing the former capeco bayamon lpg terminalfor propane and butane distribution. mec was contracted to provide engineering services forpipeline from puma’s dock to storage tanks at the terminal and through a new pump manifoldto their truck loading facilities and back to the dock. the foundations structural design forall storage bullet tanks was part of the design scope.

PUMA ENERGY LPG LINE FOR PREPA’S SJSP UNITS 5 & 6Mechanical, electrical and civil/structural design for an LPG pipeline

on 2011, puma energy caribe, llc was contracted by prepa to provide lpg to prepa’s sanjuan steam plant units 5 and 6. mec was contracted to provide engineeringservices to develop pipelines from puma’s dock to a storage vessel and through a new pumpmanifold to prepa’s units. pipeline road crossings, cathodic protection, fire protectionsystem, substation, mcc, emergency generator, lightning and grounding protection werealso part of the design. mechanical, process and structural design done incollaboration with engineering & terminal services (houston, tx).

on 2005 consorcio laesa in the dominican republic (dr) initiated a 32 mw $38 million wärtsilä

power generation plant project. mec was contracted to provided electrical engineeringdesign services for the complete project , which consisted of a new power generation enginebuilding with a 138 kv substation. the power plant began generation on 2006, providing thedominican republic with about 3% of the country’s electricity service.

a 28 mw $33 million wärtsilä power generation plant. as in the previous phase, mec providedthe electrical complex design services, for the complete project, which consisted of abuilding expansion for the new power generation engines and a expansion to the 138 kvsubstation . the power plant doubled its generation on 2008, providing the dominicanrepublic with about 6% of the country’s power demand.

115 KV UNDERGROUND LOOPSupervision, Inspection and Project Management of the Underground electrical transmission system

CLIENT:

LOCATION: SAN JUAN, PR

a underground 115 kv line was constructed on the san juan metropolitan area. this $130 million project was divided in six phases (see previous slide). mec was contracted to provided project management for all six phases, including the technical support by power engineers during the construction process. support was provided for duct bank construction, 115 kv underground cable installation, gis switchgears at prepa’s transmission centers, horizontal directional drillings crossings, bonding scheme, and final commissioning , testing and acceptance.
