Measuring Up Live

Every year, I have asked our ESOL program to purchase and online program called� MeasuringUp Live.

I have found that this program is� a great resource for yearly, on-line SOL preparation. Thestandards on MUL correspond to Virginia Standards.

Well, I would not have thought this. Normally Iappreciate new concepts on classic ideas asEnglishteaching activities is not like doingsomething new on a daily basis. Sure it's not likemanufacturing car seats all day every daynevertheless you can always find things to shakeup somewhat. Even if you never acknowledge thebeauty of life hides within the changes. Let uslook at how far we should move.

In addition, I can select which standards I wantmy students to work on, which correspond tostandards they are working on in their generalMath, Science and Language Arts classes. Forexample, for Life Science and Physical Science, Ican select the first category of �ScientificInvestigation, Reasoning, and Logic.� I amable to monitor the progress of my studentunderstanding and retention in this category viathe administrative program. MUL provides aperformance key of three levels �BelowProficient, Proficient, AdvancedProficient.� My student�sproficiency level is currently set at 70%, whichthen allows me to move them onto a newstandard when they have shown me that theyhave obtained the measured goal forcomprehension.

My students enjoy this program because it provides instantaneous feedback for students after everyquestion is answered. If the student answers the questions incorrectly, an explanation of theincorrect answer is provided. Students are required to continue until they select the correct answer.Finally, students enjoy a small game after they answer 5 questions correctly.
