H ello parents. I’ve stared at my computer screen for a few minutes now searching my mind for some inspired words to launch our inaugural E-newsletter. My first keystroke coincided with a loud thunder clap from an oncoming storm. I’m choosing to view this as an omen of the positive energy of our students and staff and the divine power we pray will accompany us throughout the year. Our second week of regular classes is nearly in the books but already our school family is bonding after a week of hiking, camping, learning, and worshipping together at Outdoor School and Senior Survival. MEA is truly blessed to be located near so many pristine places that provide students opportunities for outdoor experiential learning. Every year is an unraveling story with unexpected twists and turns. This year I’m praying God will be the author of our story. We want to be more committed to Him and more excellent in all we do this year, for His Glory. Thanks for being part of this journey and never hesitate to let us know how we can serve you and your child better. Hello parents. I’ve stared at my computer screen for a few minutes

now searching my mind for some inspired words to launch our inaugural E-newsletter. My first keystroke coincided with a loud thunder clap from an oncoming storm. I’m choosing to view this as an omen of the positive energy of our students and staff and the divine power we pray will accompany us throughout the year.

Our second week of regular classes is nearly in the books but already our school family is bonding after a week of hiking, camping, learning, and worshipping

together at Outdoor School and Senior Survival.

Senior SurvivalThe Class of 2012 journeyed to the Crazy Mountains. While there they focused on senior leadership, spiritual survival, initiative games, outdoor survival and edible plants. Joseph Anderson, a local Bozeman student and four-year senior, shares his thoughts on the encounter.

Senior survival was pretty awesome, we got there and first made our tents out

of black plastic and sticks. The coolest things we did were the trust type games. One of the games we had to get the whole class over a rope 6-7 feet in the air. That

experience helped many of my class draw closer to God and was an overall positive influence within our class. Senior Survival was a great experience even though I didn’t get to listen to my Ipod for a WHOLE week.

Outdoor School This year MEA adventured out to God’s natural wonder of Glacier National Park. Accompanied by 16 adults, the Freshmen, Sophomores and Juniors were given hands-on experience in the history of the park, an intro on the science behind the glaciers, evening worships by Pastor Brad from Billings, and a course on bear safety from Michelle the Bear Expert. Mariah Weaver shares her experience on her exploratory journey.

In a land where glaciers roam there was a child name Mariah Weaver. She was

on a quest to find the majestic land of Glacier National Park. Many had tried before and many had failed. She faced the dangers of being eaten by wild bears, and attacked by spiders…the SIZE of bears. She had to withstand a formidable bus ride with 27 other students; death was almost certain from her bladder be-ing at top capacity. They were all packed like sardines. When Mariah thought, alas, she could not take in a more beautiful sight in the distance that brought her

comfort, the tollbooth for Glacier. The sights were magnificent. She was there for an outstanding week where she viewed 11 bears and four of which were only 25 ft away. A man named Pastor Brad came and talked with much enthu-siasm, Mariah enjoyed it. Mountains were everywhere with mountain sheep resting on them, Mariah is still not totally sure that it was not just snow and people just had good imaginations. When the week came to a close Mariah was sad to leave, especially to ride back to school with a bunch of un-washed teenagers. P 406.587.5178
