Me-Me’s Little
Boutique
Rose Ring and
Earrings PDF
Tutorial
By: Melinda “Me-Me” McGuffey
Tips:
- Weaving wire may be wrapped around
a sewing bobbin for easier control and
less risk of kinking the wire.
- It is always better to have too much
wire than too little. Allow extra wire for
any mistakes to be corrected or to
make changes in the design as you
allow your creative side to take over.
- ENJOY THIS FREE TUTORIAL!!!
MATERIALS & TOOLS:
40 Inches of 20g dead soft wire of your choice
24 inches of 26g dead soft wire of your choice
Ring Mandrel
Something 1.5” in diameter like a glue stick
tube, or a thread spool will work also (without
the thread on it)
Flush cutters
Bent nose pliers
Round nose pliers
Nylon pliers
Ruler or Measuring Tape
Sewing Bobbing or Spool
**Other tools are optional**
SET UP:
Let’s Begin:
Choose your 20-gauge wire
and the 26-gauge wire you will
be wrapping with. I have
chosen 2 shades of pink.
*Antique Bronze makes
beautiful roses as does
copper.
Cut 4 pieces of 20g wire at 10
inches long each. Set 2 aside
and we will use those later for
the matching earrings.
LET’S WEAVE
STEP 1:
Pick up one of your 20g wires
we will call base wire 1. Then
take your 26g weaving wire
and wrap it around your base
wire 3 times.
STEP 2:
Add your 2nd base wire on top
and wrap your weaving wire
around both wires 2 times.
This completes one rotation.
TAKE A BREAK WHEN NEEDED
Step 3:
We will continue this weave
for about 2 inches.
2 inches makes a size 7. For a
size smaller wrap 5 or so
rotations smaller. Stop at
about 1.5 inches but do not
clip your weave wire.
STEP 4:
Shape your wires around your
ring mandrel. If you have
enough for both ends of the
weave to touch or get close to
each other then go ahead a
clip and finish off your weave
wire.
Make sure the wires are
crisscrossing each other like in
the picture.
YOUR DOING GREAT
Step 5:
Bend the two outside wires
out of your way.
Step 6:
Start twisting the 2 inside
wires around each other.
It’s looking good!
Step 7:
Use your thumb to hold them
flat as you can and keep
twisting them around each
other maybe 3 to 4 times. This
creates the center of the rose.
Step 8:
Once the center is created
your going to start wrapping
these wires around by
bringing one half way around
and then the next, so they lay
side by side and form a little
coil.
Fantastic!
Step 9:
Once you have coiled the flat
around at least once you will
start to twist these wires
together.
STEP 10:
Twist the two wires together
all the way to the end of the
wire.
Do you need a break?
STEP 11:
Begin wrapping the twisted
wires around in a circle. Be
sure to keep them tight.
Step 12:
Continue wrapping around
until you reach the end of the
wires.
It’s so cute!
This is how it should look so
far.
Step 13:
Clip the 2 wires leaving about
¼ of an inch.
NIP & TUCK
STEP 14:
Using your round nose pliers,
begin to bend these wires
under and tuck them into the
rose petals to hide them.
Make sure to get them in
there good so the ends won’t
cut your finger.
STEP 15:
Tuck the other end inside
using your round nose pliers.
Finishing it off.
STEP 16:
Clip last 2 wires leaving about
an inch or so.
Step 17:
Wrap the wire around the ring
at the edge of the rose. Do
this twice.
IT’S DONE!!!
STEP 18:
Clip and pinch under the ring
band. Be sure to cut the wire
at an angle so that you can
pinch it good and it won’t
scratch you. Put your finger on
it and rub. Can you feel the
edge? If so pinch some more
and if not, then your done
with that side.
Repeat this step for the other
side.
Last, put your ring back on the
mandrel and reshape it.
YOUR DONE!!!!
The earrings
Now let’s make out earrings.
Step 1:
Take one of your remaining
base wires and wrap it around
your glue stick, spool or what
ever you choose that is about
1 inch in diameter.
Step 2:
We are going to do the same
thing.
Start twisting your wires to
form your rose bud or center.
SAME PRINCIPAL
Step 3:
Once your center is formed,
twist the wires around each
other.
Step 4:
Begin twisting them around
the center of your rose.
NIP & TUCK
Step 5:
Pull the rose off the glue stick
and clip your ends short.
Step 6:
We are going to tuck these
ends inside the rose again
using the round nose pliers.
It’s looking good!
Step 7:
Cut one side of your wire.
Step 8:
If there is a sharp end sticking
out, then pinch it in or curl it
using your round nose pliers.
EAR WIRES
Step 9:
Straighten your wire.
Step 10:
Using a pen shape the wire
around the pen to create an
ear wire or fish hook.
YOUR DONE!
Step 11:
Snip and bend the end just a
little.
You have an earring.
Step 12:
Repeat these steps to make
your second earring.
You are done!
Wear your little summer roses
as often as you like but
remember the 5 S’s:
Never SWIM in your jewelry
Never SLEEP in your jewelry
No SWEAT (don’t exercise
while wearing your jewelry)
Never SHOWER in your
jewelry
No SPRAYS or perfumes while
wearing your jewelry. Put on
your jewelry last!
