F M E The Friends of Music at Emanuel chamber music series, now in its sixth year, was established by a group of individuals who wanted to share great chamber music with the Greater Hartford/ Manchester community, especially those who cannot afford to experience the joy that music brings. We are a not-for-profit organization administered by a board of directors that receives no compensation. We present a concert series of diverse musical performances of the highest quality. All the concerts are free because of the generous donations from music lovers who support the FME chamber music series. Our entire budget goes directly toward the performances to cover artist fees, promotion and publicity, operating costs and maintenance of on-site instruments. Musicians and concert-goers alike acclaim Emanuel Lutheran Church as a premiere destination for chamber music. Emanuel’s acoustics are the perfect backdrop for its remarkable instrument collection, which includes a beautifully restored 1893 Steinway concert grand, David Jacques Ways harpsichord and Casavant pipe organ. These concerts are for you, your family and friends and the community. We ask that you consider making a tax-deductible donation to the Friends of Music at Emanuel. Please write a check to Emanuel Lutheran Church with “FME” on the memo line, and mail it to the church address. Your donation will be used solely for the benefit of the concert series. MUSIC SERIES

Dear Music Enthusiast,

It gives me great pleasure to present the sixth annual Friends of Music at Emanuel chamber music series. These six concerts will bring dynamic artists to Manchester — some from distant parts of the world — who will share their artistry in the intimate and acoustically superb sanctuary of Emanuel Lutheran Church.

In 2016 - 2017, we will welcome back several memorable artists from past years. Sergey Antonov, the Russian cellist who astounded us in 2015 with his technical mastery and emotional range, will perform with compatriots Ilya Kazantsev and Misha Keylin as the Hermitage Piano Trio.

Another long-time friend of FME, pianist Corbin Beisner will take leave from his studies at the Liszt Academy in Budapest and an emerging European performing career to perform in FME’s series. Two other groups returning to the series are the beloved local ensemble, the CitySingers of Hartford, and the premiere early music group, the Sebastians.

New to this year’s series is the Alturas Duo with Gonzalo Cortes who joins us with an engaging performance of South American music.

We are eager to welcome two very young artists in April—Tyler Tan and Martim Almeida. These young musicians have reached an extraordinary level of accomplishment for their age, and they are sure to have a promising musical future.

I thank you for your past and continuing support and invite you to come along with us on this year’s musical journey. See you at the concerts.
