Last week ended with a surprise visit from "The Bubble Lady" We saw bubbles of all shapes and sizes. She even put some of our counselors and campers inside the bubbles! What a great way to go into shabbos.
Yesterday all of our campers had encounters with animals. Our younger camp-ers enjoyed a visit from the Nature Company, while our older campers got up close and personal with the animals at the Central Park Zoo!
This coming week we have COLOR DAY.

There are many exciting activities happening at camp every week . Our
counselors take pictures of the children having fun and keeping busy
throughout the day. While we can’t include all pictures in the Newsletter,
the pictures are uploaded every week to Dropbox, a private photo-
sharing website. (These pictures cannot be accessed without a direct
link.) Links to the photos are below - click the link to your child’s bunk to
see their pictures. More pictures will be added on an ongoing basis but
the link will stay the same, so you can save it for future viewing. We hope
you enjoy!

Dear Families,
We had another fun and exciting week in camp with the Kochavim!
We welcomed two new friends Charles and Ruby to our group we look forward
to spending the rest of the summer with them!! The highlight was our visit from
the Nature company we met a turtle, a rabbit and even a bearded lizard it was
really amazing!! Then the animals came alive in a puppet show we were enter-
tained! We learned very interesting facts about the animals we met and even
had a chance to touch them some of the animals had smooth skin and some of
the animals had soft skin. It was a real treat to meet them!!

Dear Families,
This week the P’rachim saw animals in all that we did. In art, after we
read the book The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle, we finger
painted in the manner in which he created his books. Using different
sponges and rollers we mixed yellow and blue together. Once are pa-
pers were filled, Morah Simone cut out leaf shapes, we then built our
own caterpillars out of Pom poms.
On Thursday, we had a visit from The Nature Company. We learned a
lot about animals. We saw, and we're able to pet a rabbit, a turtle,
and a lizard.
This week we said goodbye to Ethel and Nadav and we welcomed
Benjamin to the P’rachim.
Shabbat shalom!

This week in Bunk D’vorim we had lots of fun learning about animals! In science, we learned about caterpillars and how they grow into butterflies, and we got to make our own butterflies. In art, we made our own leaves with caterpillars on top! Our extra special activity this week was an animal show, where we got to see a bunny, a turtle, a bearded dragon, and a stick bug! We had such a great time, and especially loved the puppet show! We can't wait for what's to come next week! Morah Elana and Morah Shana

This week we had a blast in kinderdance taking off to space on
our rocket ships! In science we learned about caterpillars and
made our own butterflies. We also learned about Eric
Carle's Very Hungry Caterpillar and made our own leaves and
caterpillars just like Eric Carle. In tennis, we practiced hitting the ball from
low to high and developed our skill with hand/ eye coordination. Baking
was so cool, we baked a cake and turned it into cake balls and then we
made elephant ear cookies! On Thursday we saw the Nature
Company! They brought a rabbit, a turtle, a bearded dragon and a stick
bug for us to see and then they topped it all off with a puppet show with
Marty! Everyone loved getting into the sprinklers and learning to throw in
gym this week. It was especially cool to learn the words for the parts of
the face in Hebrew. We can't wait to see what’s in store for next week!

Wow! Can you believe this is the end of week number four?
This summer is flying by, that is for sure.
In gym we learned that a football has a point, which makes it different
from the rest.
We then had a throwing and catching relay, it was the best.
We played lots of games, it was so much fun.
We had tennis, swim, soccer, and sprinklers in the sun.
In art we created pictures like the author Eric Carl, and made some crazy
hats.
In kinderdance we did an obstacle course complete with rings, cones and
mats.
In baking we made cake pops, we crumbled the cake and smushed it
back together to form the pop.
They were so delicious, we ate every last drop.
The life cycle of a butterfly is wharf science was about this week.
We made tie dye coffee filter butterflies; they all looked so fancy and chic.
On Thursday we went to the central park zoo.
We saw the penguins, monkeys and a sleeping snow leopard too.
Happy birthday Kayla! We will miss you and Jesse a ton.
Ellyrose, Hannah, and Yoni, welcome to the fun.
We hope you have a good Shabbat, and an easy, meaningful fast.
Get ready for week five; it is going to be a blast.
Shabbat Shalom!
Morot Karen, Ariella, and Charlotte
Tziporim What an exceptional week this was for Tziporim at
Camp MDS. Crazy Hat Day gave us an excuse to
be silly. Great improvement was seen in tennis,
soccer and swimming. In Ivrit we learned the Hebrew words for
the features of the face. We learned about butterflies in Science
and in Art where we made our own versions of the butterfly and
caterpillar after hearing the story of The Very Hungry Caterpillar.
In gym we practiced throwing and catching a football. Hike!
The weather was perfect for a visit to the Central Park Zoo. The
sea lions put on a show while they were being fed their
lunch. We visited the birds, monkeys and red pandas. After a
picnic lunch we stopped by the petting zoo to feed the goats
and sheep. A great day was had by all. We say goodbye to Mo-
rah Shaina and thank her for all her help and love. We will miss
her.
Wishing you a Shabat Shalom,
Morah Marsha, Morah Amanda and Morah Shaina
It was an incredible week for the Malkot! They are swimming and playing soccer
and tennis better and better every day! This week in Ivrit we learned about how
to say all the different parts of the face and played "Shimon Omer" or Simon
says. While in baking, we made yummy and colorful cake pops which the girls
loved eating. During art and science, the girls learned about the life span of a
butterfly. In science, the Malkot made tie dyed butterflies, and in art we read The
Hungry Caterpillar and made stain glass butterflies. We also decorated visors for
crazy hat day. The girls had a wonderful time at the zoo. They got to see animals
and birds from the tropical rainforest as well as the arctic. We all were delighted
by the sea lion show. The Malkot enjoyed getting to feed and pet all the animals
in the petting zoo.
Looking forward to another great week!

Giborim Hello Families,
It was a wonderful animal filled week here at camp MDS! Ms. Carol started off our
week in Kinderdance with another game of animal rescue. The Giborim had to walk
on their knees around the room and rescue animals based on whether they swam,
flew, or hopped. It was a blast. In science with Morah Audrey, we learned more about
the life cycle of a butterfly and how they can camouflage in the face of danger. Mo-
rah Simona had us do an artists study of Eric Carle, known for his famous caterpillar. So
the Giborim worked on a collage in his honor to make a caterpillar.
With all this preparation, we were definitely ready to go to the zoo! There were so
many cool animals in the zoo, we didn't know where to begin. We started in the tropic
area, where we saw birds, bats, monkeys, snakes, and turtles. Then we sat down for a
snack and the sea lion show. The sea lions waved at us and did some really cool tricks,
like playing catch, dancing, and even talking! Then it was time to go to the snow leop-
ard exit. We were able to catch a peek as they were sleeping. And as we walked to
lunch, we glimpses the snow monkeys as well. After lunch, it was time for the lo g
awaited penguin exhibit. The Giborim loved watching them swim and dive into the
water! We ended our trip day with ices and a water fight in the yard. Good fun was
had by all.
In sports related news, the Giborim really excel at tennis and Super Soccer Stars! The
kids love running after balls, practicing their kicks and serves, and really working on
good sportsmanship. Coach Leora has been teaching us all about football. We've
practices throwing the ball, catching the ball, and being on offense and defense. In
SwimJim news, the Giborim have been swimming independently from the teachers
more and more. Their skills are really growing!
It's been a fabulous week with Giborim,as we said goodbye to Daniel and Ezra G and
hello to David and Benjamin. We can't wait to see what next week brings!
Shabbat Shalom,
Morah Talya, David, and Sam
