How to prevent being fined

The following are some tips to help you reduce the chances of becoming a recipient of a fine.

For residents in the apartments, make sure your balcony is free of trash, old decorative lights, unapproved and/or housing furniture.

Do not remove the window screens, or use the windows as a method of entrance/exit.

Do not prop open any exterior locked residence hall doors. For the safety of you and others in the residence halls, do not prop open any residence hall doors because you don't know whom you may be letting in!

Do not loan your keys to anyone and do not attach your keys to your University ID. Letting someone else use your key can be considered an “unattended guest”.

Do not allow guest to stay over past the visitation hours.

Maintain a clean room.

Do not use window coverings on the outside of you blinds such as; foil, blankets, signs, or any other item that can be viewed from the exterior of the building.

Stay away from alcohol an illegal drugs.

Do not vandalize any Housing or University property.

Respect others by keeping noise levels at an acceptable level.

Report any person behaving suspiciously to University Police at 337-475-5711.
