Undergraduate ResearchUndergraduate students at McNeese work with faculty members to conduct innovative field research. Current research by McNeese faculty and students may lead to discoveries of new antibiotics, healthier beef and pork products, mosquito control strategies, coastal restoration and innovative ways to use native plants for their natural antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties.

Honors CollegeThe Honors College is designed for outstanding students with strong academic backgrounds who desire an alternative course of instruction at the college level. Students who participate in Honors College may be awarded financial assistance toward tuition and fees, residence hall and meal plan fees, and book expenditures. Students will also receive a special designation on their University transcript and diploma.

Honors College Criteria: ACT composite of 27 or SAT combined math and critical reading of 1210 and an overall high school GPA of 3.4 on 4.0 scale. Admission is limited and awarded on a competitive basis. Additional information, as well as the application, can be found at mcneese.edu/honors.

English Language Program (ELS):If you don’t have a TOEFL or IELTS score or

simply need to perfect your English before beginning an academic program, intensive English language study is available at McNeese though ELS. Students who successfully complete level 112 of the ELS program do not need an IELTS or TOEFL score. To learn more about ELS, visit: universityguideonline.org/mcneese

College of Engineering and Computer ScienceP McNeese’s College of Engineering and Computer Science was recently ranked third in the nation among engineering programs in terms of career return

on investment for its graduates- topping all engineering programs in the

state of Louisiana – by PayScale Inc.

P A team of mechanical engineering students won second place in the in “Robots for Relief” student design competition sponsored by the at the American Society of Mechanical

Engineers. Seventeen entries from universities in 10 countries competed for the three awards in the annual international competition for college students.

College of Liberal ArtsP The criminal justice program has implemented a course that allows qualified students to become certified police officers before their graduation date as part of their curriculum – making this program the first of its kind in the state. This increases their chances in obtaining employment upon graduation.

College of Nursing and Health ProfessionsP The renamed college includes a new Bachelor of Science degree in health systems management. This non- nursing degree prepares graduates for mid- level jobs managing the business of health care.

College of ScienceP McNeese has three working farms and a state-of-the-art meat processing and production facility that provide hands-on experience for careers in the agricultural and food science industry students need to succeed in agriculture today.
