study has been done on the nesting requirements of this owl species.

The IL Raptor Center needs the help of 4-Hers across the state to build nesting boxes for a state wide study.

Traditional owl boxes have a box with a hole and a roof overhead. This design has had limited success. The IL Raptor Center has modified the design to consist of a partial open top, which will deter other species from occupying the box. Participants will disperse both types of nesting boxes across the state in a side-by-side comparison; they will monitor the boxes for signs of activity and record their findings.

A project of this scope has never been done before focusing on one owl species. Club participants will be a part of groundbreaking research!

Long time 4-H volunteer, Jack Bragg, will be leading our research team from November – April 2020.

Club News: Community Builders 4-H Club Submitted by: Ava Kardaras, Club reporter

This October not only did we elect new officer's we also put together 28 Halloween themed goodie bags for some of the residents of the Family Alliance in Woodstock. Members of our club put a small pumpkin, candy and snack into each goody bag. It was fun and we hope the resident's enjoyed it. Our club is looking forward to celebrating this year's achievements with a banquet in November, and also look forward to working on some awesome community service projects for next year!
