the future of energy We believe the future of energy will be lower carbon. Ourstrategy is straightforward: Be a leader in efficient and lowercarbon production of traditional oil and gas energy, in high

demand today and for years to come, while growing the lower carbonbusinesses that we believe will be a bigger part of the future.

energy transition projectsChevron’s approach envisions the use of green, blue, and gray hydrogen. We believe the use ofblue and green hydrogen as a fuel source can helpreduce the amount of GHG emissions entering theatmosphere.

At Chevron Richmond, capacity in the new, moreefficient hydrogen unit, combined with existing andfuture strategic partnerships, will be the foundationto support hydrogen demand growth in the heavy-duty transportation, industrial, and power sectors.

turning waste into green hydrogen Chevron is invested in Raven SR Inc., a renewable fuels company that plans to buildmodular waste-to-green hydrogen production units and renewables synthetic fuel

facilities. Republic Services announced that one of these hydrogen production facilities, which iscombustion free, is slated for Richmond’s WestContra Costa Sanitary Landfill. Starting in 2022,Raven plans to process up to 99.9 tons of organicwaste per day to produce up to 2,000 tonnes peryear of green hydrogen in Richmond.

powered by the sun MCE and Chevron are planning to transform theSolar One site, located on Chevron Richmond land, into a solar-powered green hydrogen facility. If fullyapproved and converted, the Richmond GreenHydrogen One project is designed to have thecapacity to produce 1,000 kilograms of renewable

hydrogen per day.

products of the futureChevron announced in September that we will invest more in RenewableNatural Gas (RNG) projects, such asthe projects we currently have in theCentral Valley. RNG projects capturemethane that is currently emitted to the atmosphere and turn it into a valuable lower carbon fuel. Forinstance, gas from dairy farms, wastewater and landfills could providefeedstock at scale.

Our work to create fuels of thefuture—like hydrogen, renewablediesel, and sustainable aviation fuel—seeks to lower the carbon intensity of these products and support ourcustomers’ efforts to reduce theirgreenhouse gas emissions. We plan toleverage our existing refining system, which includes Chevron Richmond, to grow production of these fuels.Opportunity also exists for storage ofcarbon, a critical enabler of global netzero ambitions.

We are committed to engaging thecommunity in the future as our plansevolve. Visit richmond.chevron.com for updates.
