Course Content The Cambridge M.B.A. adopts a policy of continuous improvement and the details of the course vary from year to year. The provisional content for 2010-11 includes the following components (please note that this is not a co mprehensiv e list): Core Components Accounting Overview of the primary financial statements, appreciati on of key accounting concepts, an awareness of a sample o f key accounting policies and international accounting standards and how these impact on financial statements. Economics An introduction to Economics, split into microeconomics, with topics such as basic price theory, the fir m and industry theory, and macroeconomics, with topics such as an overview of the macroeconomy and macropolicy. Finance An overview of the foundations of corporate finance and a n introduction to the tools and analyses used to make investment and financing decision s. Topics covered include capital budgeting and the c hoice of investment  projects, the impact of risk, tax a nd inflation on capital budgeting decision s, mergers and acquisitions, and the use o f financial options.

Application of the core skills of accounting and finance to the challenges of 

understanding and managing financial performance. Topics covered include

share price behaviour, investor relations, value-based performance metrics,

and cost structures.

Marketing

Understanding how marketing contributes to overall business strategy.

Considering customer behaviour, market segments, and tools for relationship

marketing.

Organisational Behaviour

Understanding how individuals and groups behave in organizations and why

they perform in the way they do.

International Business

Understanding the nature of multinational firms and the structures andstrategies that they need to adopt in different situations to ensure success.

Topics covered include designing global strategies, managing international

mergers and acquisitions, and cross-cultural management.

Operations Management

The aim of this course is to explore the central and closely related functions

of operations and management accounting.

Management Analysis

Learning the basic concepts and essential management tools for 

understanding data and analysing decisions taken. Students will learn the

analytic skills needed to perform, defend, or critique a business analysis.

Management Practice

An introduction to cross-cultural learning, communication skills,

 presentation skills, individual and group behaviour, inter-group dynamics,

and leadership.

These components are supplemented by a distinguished speaker series - Cambridge

Leadership Seminars. In addition, students participate in three projects: the

Cambridge Venture Project (CVP) based in Cambridge, the Global ConsultingProject (GCP) based in large blue-chip corporations anywhere in the world, and the

Capstone Project.
