For those that have, as you know, this is something we look forward to every three years, and we hope to see you there. Since we, (the New York Society), generally do not exceed the limitation of delegates, indi- viduals from the Albany Colony have the possibility of attending as Delegates, participat- ing in the business meeting, and all activities, meeting their distant cousins from about the country, and literally from around the world. My Monmouth cap is tipped to Jim Rogers for securing our Speaker, Gloria Waldron Hukle, author of MANHATTAN SEEDS OF THE BIG APPLE, a 17 th Century historical novel which is described as “the heartfelt story of one immigrating family’s journey to colo- nial America, and especially their spiritual struggle with the meaning of cultural diversity long before it became an important expression of our time 300 years later.” She has a sec- ond novel, “THE DIARY OF A NORTHERN MOON”, which should be released soon. This story of early Manhattan and Dutch settlement results from the authors heritage and lineage which also includes connection to Richard Warren through the Church line, so we hope that she continues to write, especially an application for membership in the General Society of Mayflower Descendants. The Author will in fact have books available for sale, and will autograph books should members either purchase or bring them to the meeting. I hope all of you can join us for this wonderful luncheon meeting. NEXT MEETING IS MAY 3, 2008

LT. Governors’ Message November 2007

As your Lt. Governor, I am very happy that our Colony can join together for yet another Compact Day Meeting. Our Elder, Art Young is attempting to secure the traditional proc-lamation from Governor Spitzer’s Office for presentation at our Compact Day Celebration.

This year, 2007, was the 50th Anniversary of Mayflower II with its attendant celebrations. Perhaps some of you were able to go to Plymouth to take part in the festivities. Next year, 2008, will be the 38th Triennial Congress. It is my sincere hope that we (the Albany Col-ony) can make a good showing at the upcoming Congress in Plymouth during September 2008. Please mark your calendar and register as soon as possible – the registration info will be contained in your Spring Mayflower Quarterly. For those of you who have never been to Plymouth during Congress, you will certainly be in for a treat. For those that have, as you know, this is something we look forward to every three years, and we hope to see you there.

Since we, (the New York Society), generally do not exceed the limitation of delegates, indi-viduals from the Albany Colony have the possibility of attending as Delegates, participat-ing in the business meeting, and all activities, meeting their distant cousins from about the country, and literally from around the world.

My Monmouth cap is tipped to Jim Rogers for securing our Speaker, Gloria Waldron Hukle, author of MANHATTAN SEEDS OF THE BIG APPLE, a 17th Century historical novel which is described as “the heartfelt story of one immigrating family’s journey to colo-nial America, and especially their spiritual struggle with the meaning of cultural diversity long before it became an important expression of our time 300 years later.” She has a sec-ond novel, “THE DIARY OF A NORTHERN MOON”, which should be released soon.

MEMBERSHIP Life 15 Regular 179 Junior 29 ROBERT MORTON HAFF COLONY HISTORIAN

New Business: (continued from page 2)

Bob Haff introduced the discussion of possibly holding Albany Colony meetings in locations other than Albany, prompted by the dramatic increase in the cost of gas. It was pointed out the Albany Colony should be in Albany and another colony could be formed elsewhere to accommo-date those who have a great distance to travel for the meetings. Bob Haff offered to research the colony mailing list (through Phil Bradway) to try to find another location which could pro-vide enough members to be able to form another colony.

Program: “Plimouth State of Affairs” -

Albany Colony was honored to have Governor General Sullivan speak to us about happenings within the Society, adding humor to the details. An Archives room is being set up at the head-quarters in Plimouth to house important records. Plans have been made to have some items formerly housed in a safe deposit on display at the museum.

The Governor General also described some of the changes occurring to help streamline the ap-proval process for application papers. As of April 2007, there are 27,260 Mayflower Society members. Bank of America handles the investments for the Society. A DNA Committee has been established to develop the criteria used to accept proofs of lineage for admitting new mem-bers into our Society.

A bit of his personal background included being a lawyer by profession, the father of seven chil-dren and a world traveler having visited every state in our country and 135 other countries.

Our next meeting will be November 3, 2007 at the Normanside Country Club.

Future meeting dates set: May 3, 2008; November 1, 2008.

Closing prayer was given by 1st Dep. Lt. Gov. James Rogers.

Meeting adjourned at 3:10 PM.

Submitted by, Priscilla S. Davis, Secretary
