At our assembly this week the Health Promoting Schools team is introducing Project Buddy Bench. The bench was installed last week on our senior playground. It is an ordinary bench placed in the schoolyard which we are hopeful will benefit parents and caregivers who are supervising their children at the park. However, the true intention of the bench is to provide a spot for children to sit if they would like to have someone to play with. This idea is being used in many playgrounds across Europe and North America. Our next School Community Council meeting is May 24 at 12:00 p.m. Please consider attending the meeting. Students are expected to exercise good taste and take pride in their personal appearance. Because we believe clothing reflects attitude, we ask that students do not wear muscle shirts, tube tops or tops with thin straps, including those that reveal midriffs, hats or bandanas. Shorts and skirts of a reasonable length, and sleeveless tops are permitted. Clothing with logos or messages need to be school-appropriate— messages that promote alcohol, drugs, violence, etc., are not acceptable. Any student wearing clothing that is deemed inappropriate will be asked to turn it inside out, or an alternate item may be borrowed from the clothing depot. Thank you for your cooperation and support.
