Officer’s Message
Dear Members, This year has flown by! I remember taking office last June, and thinking about the activities of the coming year, and now most of those events are in the rear view mirror. It has been a fun year, we have accomplished a lot as a chapter, as evidenced by the CAP points total. To quote our IIA District Representative, “very impressive”! It would not be possible without the support of you, our members. Many of our officers are returning for another tour, so the chapter will be in very capable hands. And our VP for Conferences and Seminars, Remi Nel, is rotating out of the officer group, but is assuming the District Representative role, and will continue to be very involved in our chapter as a Board member. Our slate for 2017/2018 is as follows:
President: Blake Herndon Vice President - Conferences and Seminars: Cecilia Velasquez Vice President - Programs : Glenn Prochnow Treasurer:: Seth Homan Secretary: Lashele Almonte
Our Vice Treasurer position has come open again, so we are looking to fill that vacancy soon. As always, we welcome those of you with interest and passion for serving. Talk to any of our officers (regarding opportunities to be part of our chapter leadership. Also, Sandy Welch will be leaving our Board to take on other important duties as she retires and moves closer to her grandkids. We thank her for her service and wish her all the best! Thank you for your participation and involvement in the chapter. It has been a privilege and honor to serve you over the past year., and we hope to see you at many of our events over the coming year. Glenn Prochnow Chapter President

Are You Pursuing Your Career in Color?
In 2013, I published a blog post that resonated widely with readers. In "Do You Live Your Life in Color?" I reflected on the passing of two people — one a friend and one a relative — who lived their lives with vigor and passion, never failing to pursue their dreams and ambitions.
I observed that their passion for their work "inspired me to live my professional life as if I would only live it once." Unfortunately, far too many professionals today are simply punching the clock when it comes to their careers. Quite frankly, they are pursuing their professional careers in black and white!
We spend far too much time in the workplace to be content with it simply being the source of a paycheck.
Take a minute and read what he has to say here. Wise words from our leader who has “been there, done that.”
Video of the Month - Why do we do things the same way? As a follow on to Mike Jacka’s blog post in our March newsletter, as we “build our cathedral,” architect Jim Collins challenges us to leverage our creativity , question the status quo, and not just do things because “that’s the way we always do them.”

Based on last year’s activities, we earned 2,121 CAP points and maintained our Platinum status. As of March 2017, we have earned a total of 2,466 CAP points, allowing us to surpass our goal of achieving 1,560 CAP points to maintain our PLATINUM status (highest level)!
