Teresa Holstege purchased Ms Principle Zippo, “Lexus”, as a weanling in 2005. Lexus was shown in halter and showmanship as a yearling. As a two-year old, she was shown by Brian Cox and Teresa at the All-American Quarter Horse Congress. Her first horsemanship class was November of her two-year old year. Bruce Vickery started Lexus on her phenomenal lead changes and trail as a three-year old.

Teresa and Lexus have been a dynamic duo, placing in the Top 5 and Top 10 at Congress and the AQHA Amateur World Show. Lexus is an AQHA Champion, and has Superiors in Amateur Performance Halter Mares, Showmanship and Horsemanship. Teresa and Lexus were the Illinois Quarter Horse Association All-Around Amateur in 2010 and 2011, and also the Open All-Around in 2011.

Teresa has worked on her own, training Lexus and has had success yearly at the Congress and the World. She has proven that with persistence and talent (both horse and rider), that Dreams Do Come True! Many THANKS to the judges that saw their greatness and placed them accordingly!

Teresa and Lexus have had an awesome show career, but now the reins will be turned over to Lexus’s new owner, Kelly Best (under the guidance of Jody Sullivan).

Kelly - Congrats on your first show with Lexus! I hope your ride is as successful as mine has been ~ Teresa Holstege.

Teresa, enjoy your new ride!Love, Mother & Dad

The Michigan Quarter Horse Association is an enthusiastic group of individuals who breed, raise, train, show or just plain love the American Quarter Horse.

The MQHA offers those who wish to compete, over 50 AQHA/MQHA approved shows, including an All-Novice Show/Open show to introduce less seasoned competitors to national competition. Shows not only include halter, showmanship, western and hunt seat classes, but trail, western riding, roping, reining, barrels and poles, over fences and many other specialty competitions.

In addition, the MQHA hosts a yearly trail ride for those who choose to enjoy their horses on a more recreational level.

The MQHA is committed to educating its members. Clinics are offered at many shows by AQHA professional horsemen.

The MQHA includes a youth association to provide young people with many opportunities, including membership on our very successful Congress and Youth World teams. Scholarships, Incentive Funds and Fundraisers help many of our youth exhibitors participate in these, and many more, life-enriching experiences.

Monty Montgomery made a motion that MQHA spend $405 on new trail poles. This amount would pay for half of the cost, with Tom Powers paying $405 for the other half. The poles would remain at MSU and be used by MQHA owned shows and Tom Powers exclusively. Cindy Austin seconded the motion. The following returned an electronic vote in favor of the motion: Allen, Austin, Chiodo, Christensen, Cook, English, Kastl, Leek, Meyer, Montgomery, Moody, Powers, Prime, Robertson, Waite, Warda & Weitzel. There were no votes against. Motion passed with majority.
