Bob Reavis Editor May June 2012 OPCC President’s Message Ed Marx, OPCC President After a cool and very wet spring here, it appears that summer has finally arrived on the Olympic Peninsula. The less than perfect weather we have had up till now did nothing to interfere with our intrepid shutterbugs, who continued to create outstanding images. So now the rest of us, who were loath to venture outdoors to capture their award-winning images, can get busy and catch up. It’s not necessary to travel far and wide to find great pictures; our peninsula abounds in natural beauty, waiting for you to see and capture. So get our there and show us your artistic and technical photographic skills. But most of all, amaze yourself with how much progress you are making improving your photographic prowess. If you feel you need some remedial help with your photography, remember that your club has a Mentoring Program. Experienced members are ready to pair up with anyone who feels the need for some private “tutoring” at no cost. Individual curricula, venues and frequency are arranged by mutual agreement of mentor and mentoree. Half of 2012 is behind us, but the best half is yet to be. To-date we have had several enjoyable photo-safari field trips, some very informative presentations by interesting “experts”, and great competitions so far this year. What makes this camera club so worth-while for all of us is the participation of its members, their volunteer work, and the ideas proffered to continually improve what we do. Please propose field trips that you might organize and lead. Let us know about useful presentations and workshops that could benefit the membership; and offer to do one yourself or get a commitment from someone else who would do a creditable job of it. And finally let us know what you think ought to be added, changed or deleted from how we operate. Help make the next six months the best yet for all of us. Now get out there and show us your stuff! Help with County Fair Bob Reavis needs help with county fair photo contest. Most help is needed on Tuesday August 14th. He also needs help throughout the fair that runs from August 16 19.

After a cool and very wet spring here, it appears that summer has finally arrived on the Olympic Peninsula. Individual curricula, venues and frequency are
