We just finished with the Ladies Luncheon and it was great. Our Chef John Clarkin and Music Master Marc Chamberlin made this luncheon superb and of course all the volunteers. We received nothing but compliments for this event, to quote a comment made to me at the luncheon “ Mike I feel like I’m at a five star restaurant with a personal waiter”. Guys it doesn’t get any better than that. I would like to write a personal thank you card to each and every one of you but my arthritic fingers wouldn’t hold up.   In this council the responsibility of serving you comes with the privilege of having your confidence and support and I thank you so much for that.   We thank Father Kovanis for his support in all our endeavors.   I will close out this final Grand Knight Message by thanking my true love, my wife, partner, and biggest fan, Shirley.   Michael McCluskey Grand Knight

!Dear Brothers,

As we close out th is Knights year the first thing that comes to mind is how extraordinary the members of this council have been in working together as a

potent and competent force. I am truly humbled by your readiness and poise to address the challenges we have had this year. All our events were well covered by your enthusiastic attitude and spirit. As they say, Gentlemen A Job Well Done, Thank you so much.   We have a new slate of Officers for the 2016/2017 Knights year and I am sure you will give them the same support that you so graciously gave our current officers. The slate of officers was created with the reasoning of selecting men that will be groomed for the position of Grand Knight thus ensuring the health and leadership of the council.   We took on a lot this year and with the help of our Dear Lord we came through with flying colors. The Italian Dinner was very successful, the Oktoberfest was a huge success, our Knights Christmas dinner dance was great and our Fish Fry yielded exactly what we wanted. !I also committed the council to the Faith Formation once a month dinner and the out-pouring of volunteerism was spectacular. The Tootsie Roll Drive went smooth as silk thanks to Jim Claro and Val Korolevich and their teams of volunteers.

Dear Brother Knights,

Today, 135 years after our founding by Venerable Father Michael McGivney, we continue the mission of serving the needs of the Church and the world with evangelical charity. Our

prayer and sacrificial works build up the Domestic Church. As our current fraternal year draws to a close, let us celebrate our accomplishments with gratitude to God who has strengthened our hands for labor and trust in His providential care to embolden us for future endeavors.  Thank you to all who have served in leadership this past year and thank you to all who will serve in the new year.  May the Lord bless you and your families this summer – Father Kovanis

!My Friends,

!As we round the turn and head for home to end our fraternal year we continue our activities. !Sunday, May 15 will be the last Pancake Breakfast of the year. We will be taking June, July and August off to return the third Sunday of September. As a result of your hard work and support to date we have raised over $2500.00 to support of veteran charities. !Our monthly visits to Haley VA Hospital to support the evening Bingo program continues to be a popular activity for members of the Assembly. We will continue the first Monday of the month car pool from Conesa at 5:30 pm. Join the fun sometime. I guarantee you will enjoy the effort. !Our Honor Guard, under the fine leadership of Tony Gerbino continues to receive high praise for the professional appearance. The unfortunate effect is they are getting lots of work this year honoring deceased members. !The Chalice program has distributed quite a few of them at Sir Knights family’s request. This ensures they will be constantly remembered by the celebrant. !As this year comes to a close I want to thank all of you for making my term as Faithful Navigator one of the most rewarding periods in my life. Your support and encouragement made my job a breeze and I will ever be grateful. !Walsi will be happy to have me around again! !John, FN

FAITHFUL NAVIGATOR

Only Having Insurance “Through Work” Doesn’t Work

Do you know anyone whose life or career has drastically changed during these years of economic downturn? It’s very likely that someone in your immediate or extended family or group of friends is facing financial uncertainty. Maybe there’s a possibility that you (or your spouse) could change employers, or even lose your job. Too many people have often relied on group term life insurance as their only safety net. Often, this insurance is an employee benefit provided at low or no cost. The existence of this coverage might convince someone that personally-owned life insurance is not necessary. But only having “through work” insurance can leave you and your family vulnerable. Most group life insurance policies are limited in amount, which may be tied to salary or some other benchmark. These numbers are often capped, and this cap may be dangerously low when compared to your family’s actual needs. In fact, a detailed needs analysis that evaluates your specific situation, will likely show that any employer-provided coverage falls short. In addition, the amount of group insurance offered is almost always reduced, sometimes dramatically, when you retire. You could one day find yourself without coverage, and if your health has changed (which it will as you age), you might also find yourself unable to secure individual protection. At the very least, it will definitely be more expensive. While group life insurance can help, it does not replace the need for individually owned life insurance. I’ll be happy to meet with you and provide a no-cost needs analysis, so you’ll know exactly where you stand. !Joseph DiSalvo- PGK, LUTCF Fraternal Benefits Advisor Cell#: 813-340-6614 [email protected] !
