EcuadorPray that cross-cultural interactions between team

members and with Ecuadorians would honor God in words,

gestures, and facial expressions, and clearly deliver His

message. May God grant grace and healing for failed or

misunderstood communication.

ChileThank you for praying for long-term missionaries in Africa:

the Limenkos, Ester, Rocio, and Fernando. Pray for servant

hearts and attitudes, and that they will show God’s love

to those lost and dying without Jesus. Pray also for their

support teams in Chile!

CanadaCanadian cities are increasingly multicultural. Praise God for

missionaries helping churches and people to be intentional

in reaching their neighborhoods. Pray more would serve

and more churches would partner with SIM.

Côte d’IvoirePray schedules and travel can be arranged for the SIM-CI

board to meet to strategize and cast vision for future work.

Pray also for the new Fréquence Vie board members. Pray for

the safety of Côte d’Ivoire.

United StatesPray for practical and spiritual preparation and on-fi eld

mentoring for those who will minister in short-term

assignments in the coming weeks. Ask God to bless their

work and to cultivate a lasting passion for mission.

FranceErnest (Ghana) joined the SIM France-Belgium Offi ce

early in February. He will assist CFO Léon, and also be

involved in youth ministry. Pray Ernest adapts smoothly

as he learns French, and he would experience joy in his

new environment.

Ministry FocusWe have been in Burkina Faso for six years, serving as

the SIM Projects Coordinator and in the Teen Challenge

Ministry among drug addicts and street boys, in evangelism,

teaching English/Bible studies, and children’s ministry. We

have seen God’s glory and grace, and praise Him for perfect

peace and joy that surpasses all understanding through

Ministry FocusHow did 1 million Tamajaq receive God’s Word in their heart

language? Through global, cross-cultural collaboration. MiDi

Bible, a Swiss mission publishing Scriptures for minorities,

provided their services and half the funding for the New

Testament in Tamajaq. This was translated in Niger, typeset in

Cameroon, then printed in South Korea. Pray for transformed

Tamajaq lives and the continuation of MiDi Bible’s ministry.

THE AMERICAS

UruguayMark and Tamara recently arrived in Uruguay and are

looking for opportunities to teach ESL. Please pray they

will settle quickly and that doors will open so they will

be able to reach many people through English as a

Second Language.

SwitzerlandAsk for God’s help and leading for European Christians in

welcoming refugees. Some churches have started special

ministries, including teaching the local languages and

distributing clothes or food. Pray many people fi nd true

hope and a future in Jesus!

ParaguayA new lay pastor from a distant rural church was highly

encouraged by the Timothy workshop and fellowship with

other lay leaders. Pray these leaders will use the Bible

storying methods they learned to reach many for Jesus in

the Guarani language.Ministry Focus

“My husband and I are reading the Bible you gave me,”

L recounted. It was an answer to prayer that her husband

wasn’t opposing her. “But we have questions….” Visiting

them was a problem because they live close to relatives

who could become suspicious. Our car accident provided the

solution—a culturally appropriate excuse to visit four hours!

Pray for much grace and wisdom, as they’d like to meet again.

BoliviaA Bolivian ministry partners with SIM in working with the

small Chiquitano church. An Australian medical team recently

helped the church build relationships with community

leaders by giving the villagers medical attention. Pray God

will continue to open doors to reach more Chiquitanos.

BoliviaJavier Zubieta started a new prison ministry and asks for

prayer as he ministers in this new cultural context. Pray

for the 15 believers in this discipleship group as they study

God’s Word and learn to be a light for Jesus in prison.

06FRI

BrazilA team of Brazilian doctors serve short term in Angola every

year. Pray for the fundraising campaign “More than Words”

to purchase an electric generator for the Rio da Huila

Hospital there.

08SUN

OCLA (Offi ce Connection Latin America), Ecuador

Mobilizing the Latin Church to missions is a main objective

this year. Pray for sustained fi nancial, pastoral and prayer

support for new missionaries to be sent to unreached

peoples. Ask for good communication with partners

sending missionaries together with SIM.

PeruFour Peruvian missionaries currently serve in other countries.

Pray for them and their supporting churches. Pray churches

continue to develop a network of mobilization to encourage

understanding and involvement in world mission.

United StatesMany missionary kids will graduate soon from high school

and college. Pray they will see God at work and deepen

their walk with Him during these signifi cant life changes.

Pray for opportunities for them to refl ect Jesus into the

lives of others.

WEST AFRICA

BeninIn Parakou up to 35 widows meet once a month for

discipleship and prayer. Communication is diffi cult with

simultaneous translations into many languages. Pray for

this ministry. The church often overlooks this marginalized

group, and their needs are great.

Burkina FasoIntercultural studies students from Gabon, Mali, and

Burkina just fi nished their fi rst semester at the Mission

Leadership Training College in Gampela. Pray for the

completion of their assignments as they minister in their

home countries over the next few months.

United KingdomPraise God for opportunities with the Bangladeshi

community in London to build relationships and run a

six-week Bible study for those seeking Him. Please pray

the staff will have the joy of seeing these men and women

come to know Jesus.

NamibiaGive thanks for Namibian associates who are part of the

small SIM team. Pray for Chris and Janna Lee preparing to

join them. Plead for additional personnel for Namibia. Ask

for this small team to have great impact for Jesus.

EthiopiaPray for Bingham teachers building their support teams,

whether already in Ethiopia and needing to increase or

coming new for the upcoming school year. Pray more

teachers will be moved to Bingham, through God, by prayer.

West African Offi ce, Côte d’Ivoire

In February Ernest Okyere-Twum arrived in Orange, France,

from Accra, Ghana, for two years of service. Pray for him

as he learns French and the new culture before getting

involved in youth ministry in September.

LiberiaPray for SIM and ELWA ministries developing the activation

plan for the new ELWA Hospital. Construction is scheduled

for completion in mid-June. Pray for wise management

and the successful opening of the hospital in this 50th

anniversary year.

AngolaOvoMuila Christians want to reach the MuCubais, a nomadic

desert cattle people. Pray for these evangelists and for

many to respond to God’s love. Neither people group has

any printed Scripture. Pray for the translation team working

on a Nyaneka Bible for them.

TogoTwo pastors from SIM-related churches have been

specifi cally placed in villages of people groups of another

religion. Pray they would integrate into village life so

they can reach people in culturally appropriate ways and

establish growing groups of believers among them.

GuineaGuinean pastor Joel has a heart for spreading the gospel.

He started a training program for local pastors and lay

leaders to develop their mission vision and outreach plan.

Pray for him as he encourages pastors in resistant areas and

coordinates program speakers, housing, and meals.

EritreaRadio Selamna crosses international borders to reach

Eritrean people around the globe. Please pray for wisdom

as staff put together programming that will be eff ective

in reaching Eritreans living in diverse environments and

cultures. Pray also for resources to continue this ministry.

MozambiqueInstituto Teologico de Lichinga is constructing a new

ministry campus. Pray for wisdom and that funds will

be well spent. Pray also for the church plant in Muembe.

The Bulandes have seen much fruit and are working hard

discipling in a diffi cult setting.

EthiopiaStaff members need to be in place by the beginning of the

school year in August. The health of Bingham aff ects all

SIM’s ministries and those of other organizations as well.

Pray God will provide all staff in His perfect timing.

GhanaPraise God for the amazing team of four Ghanaians and

their hard work in recording “The Way of Righteousness” in

Sissali. Pray for clarity and discernment as they check the

100 lessons for errors before broadcasting on radio.

May 22SUN

MaliPraise the Lord for more villages that are opening up for the

gospel. Pray the Lord would raise faithful Malians to lead

the ministries in these villages.

24TUE

NigerAn SIM-associated church has made signifi cant

commitments to reaching the lost. Pray for wisdom as

members reach out to the local university population,

nearby neighborhoods, and villages outside the city. May

their passion for the lost continue to grow!

NigeriaNortheast Nigeria has suff ered greatly from terrorist attacks.

Bill and Lorraine Foute are conducting Trauma Healing

Workshops to minister to victims aff ected by multiple crises.

Please pray for the victims’ journeys to healing and for

Nigerians trained to extend this ministry.

NigeriaVarious denominations in Nigeria have received training

to conduct Trauma Healing Workshops to help internally

displaced people aff ected by ongoing terrorist activities

that have devastated their areas. Pray those trained will

train others and multiply eff orts throughout the country.

SenegalAfter several years of ongoing ministry, a newly appointed

government offi cial has stopped the visits of a prison

ministry team of Rwandans, Senegalese, Swiss, and South

American believers. Pray for the doors to be reopened so

this work can continue.

BotswanaPraise the Lord for relief from the drought of February. The

water situation in Heidi Epple’s village is better now. There

have been rains up north. Continue to pray for regular rains

also in the south. A lot of cattle are dying.

KenyaPlease pray families in an SIM-led entrepreneurship training

program will become economically self-suffi cient, which

can help restore their dignity, enable their children to

attend school, and provide the community with resources

to improve their lives, homes, and neighborhoods.

KenyaPraise God for new students joining literacy and English

classes! Please pray for wisdom, good relationships, and

increased trust between teachers and the women with

whom they are working. Pray they will be salt and light in

this community.

MalawiSIM is leading the initiative to mobilize Malawians to be

missionaries. Pray Watson Rajaratnam will lead with wisdom

and courage to continue in the midst of challenges like lack

of fi nancial support from churches to send people out.

Ministry FocusFor over 100 years Ethiopian evangelists shared the gospel

with their own tribe and among other tribes in Ethiopia.

Churches also selected and fi nanced their own missionaries

and in 1996 began sending them internationally. SIM’s East

Africa Offi ce was organized to help churches continue to send

missionaries globally. Ask the Lord to be glorifi ed through

the 11 missionaries in Africa and six in Asia who currently

MauritiusTorrential rainfall has been causing fl ooding. May the Lord

direct our prayers and steps to fi nd ways to help people in

need, both spiritually and fi nancially.

08WEDNigerThis month an international TIMO team started two years

of living with, learning from, and loving rural Fulani. Ask

for God’s grace as they adjust to the heat and basic living

conditions together. Pray many Fulani would rejoice in God’s

East African missionaries are bringing to their fi elds a bold

approach of sharing the gospel. Pray for wisdom and unity

of spirit with their team members so mutual understanding

and close fellowship will yield fruitful ministry.

C-SEA (Central & Southeast Asia), Thailand

The C-SEA team requests prayers for wisdom, knowledge,

and capacity in their cross-cultural interactions as members

build partnerships and network with diff erent groups,

organizations, and churches from various countries.

PhilippinesPraise for the many Philippine ministries: feeding,

preschool, literacy, translation, livelihood, health, media,

ethnomusicology, baking, sports and international students.

Pray God will continue to use these to share His love and

disciple believers among ethnic peoples.

TanzaniaSIM sponsors a monthly fellowship in Lindi for wives of

Christian workers, most from diff erent people groups. Pray

strength and encouragement for these couples facing many

challenges, so they will persevere and their ministries will

bear much fruit.

IndonesiaNational church leaders met with SIM in May to explore

partnering in missions to other ethnic groups such as

the Melayu, the least-reached people group in Indonesia.

Pray this partnership will grow with much fruitful

cross-cultural ministry.

East Asia, Singapore

Pray for East Asians working in East Asian countries not

their own, because many still experience culture shock

and challenges. Pray for them to wait upon God and follow

His lead.

NepalPlease pray for SIM’s missionary doctors in Nepal: Christine,

Ansie, Julie, Dave, and Jenny, as they minister physical and

spiritual healing in Jesus Christ’s love throughout diff erent

hospitals and clinics around the country.

ZimbabweCheryl Day (Australia) is newly arrived; a couple from

Northern Ireland hope to come. Pray work permits are

issued and learning a new language and culture will be

smooth so fruitful ministry can begin. Pray for bounty in

threatened food shortage from El Niño eff ect.

ZambiaThe value of the Zambia kwacha has decreased about 50

percent in the last few months. People are experiencing

power outages up to 12 hours daily, as there is not enough

water in their dams. Pray for a turn-around in the country.

ThailandPray for the Thai Church as leaders begin to cast vision

and take initial steps to send Thai missionaries to nearby

countries. Pray for these new missionaries as they prepare,

share their vision, receive training and build support teams.

Sri LankaBible study, discipling, English, math and employment skill

training are ministries to many of other faiths. Pray God will

bring whole-person transformation to these students. Ask

unity, wisdom and discernment for the leadership team.

New ZealandPlease continue to pray for the SIM NZ Offi ce going through

a lot of transition this year. Pray also for wisdom and

guidance in all that is done in the offi ce.

HELPING TOGETHER

BangladeshR was amazed to meet a Christian. Although living in a

religious country, most don’t know about Jesus Christ.

Telling inquirers, “we follow Jesus,” can lead to questions

about Him. Pray for many opportunities to lead the curious

to a living relationship with Jesus Christ.

AustraliaPraise God for raising up global mission workers from ethnic

minorities. Pray for many more! Pray for SIM and other

mission organizations to assist churches to connect with

and witness to immigrants, overseas students, long-term

tourists, and refugees, many from least-reached peoples.

IndiaPray success for the livelihood income-generating

program for HIV widows, for more markets to sell their

products, and for more women to benefi t. Pray these ladies

would respond to the love of Jesus shared by believers

who volunteer.

PakistanArthur and his family are in a sensitive area of Central

Asia, pastoring four small churches and reaching out to

other people groups, despite beatings and death threats.

Please pray for this family and for SIM workers to wisely

encourage them.

West MalaysiaMigrants and displaced people—many fl eeing persecution

and violence—come to West Malaysia. As their human

needs are met, pray bridges will be built to share the good

news that addresses their greatest and ultimate need for

reconciliation with God.

ROSA (Region Of Southern Africa), South Africa

Praise the Lord for the newly formed executive committee

that will replace the administrative director until there is

a new one. Pray for wisdom in selling vacant houses and

looking for offi ce space to rent.

South SudanThe SIC Bunj church made a commitment to send a youth

choir and a pastor to worship together with the Ingessena.

Praise that real gospel bridges are being built between

these two people groups that will hopefully result in true

brotherhood. | SIC = Sudan Interior Church

14TUE ChinaMay grace, peace and love abound with China’s

multicultural teams as they interact with one another. Pray

also for their cross-cultural interactions with people God

brings across their paths.

21TUE

JapanPlease pray for the many summer teams serving in Japan,

including the eight-week pilot program with Rev. Nobu

Nagai (Global Leader Intern starting June 10) to train a

community of emerging leaders from diff erent cultures in

the context of the Tohoku disaster area.

KoreaPaul and Misun do medical training in Mongolia. Pray for

them and their team as they establish a medical mission

center in western Mongolia. Also pray home assignment

reports of a Chinese-background family ministering cross-

culturally will spur greater involvement in global missions.

MongoliaDr. Paul (Korea) disciples and equips medical students and

doctors with skills in Eastern medicine. His team is reaching

communities in Western Mongolia, where people don’t

know Jesus. Pray for wisdom as they plan and plant a one-

clinic church there.

South AfricaPraise the Lord for the April launch of the Isaiah 6.8

program. This new 20-week initiative is an opportunity for

South Africans to explore cross-cultural missions. Please

pray wisdom and discernment for the leaders in selecting

participants in this new program.

Ministry FocusThank you for praying God would save N, the oldest

daughter in her family. She accepted Jesus as her Lord and

Savior in January and was baptized. Pray for her growth

in discipleship, that God will lead her in the right path.

May she be a channel of blessing to her family and people.

Please pray that she will pass her exams and qualify to

study medicine.
