Pre-Baptismal instruction of parents should be arranged in the
rectory ONE MONTH IN ADVANCE. In addition to English, and Spanish
this Sacrament may also be in Italian.
•WEDDINGS/ MATRIMONIO Pre–marital instruction is a requirement
for all engaged couples. Consequently, arrangements for weddings
should be made SIX MONTHS in advance.

DE MAYO, 2016 SESTA DOMENICA DI PASQUA 8 DI MAGGIO, 2016
“As they were stoning Stephen he called out ‘Lord Jesus, receive
my spirit.’ Then he fell to his knees and cried out in a loud
voice, ‘Lord do not hold this sin against them’, and when he had
said this, he fell asleep.”… “Lifting his eyes to heaven, Jesus
prayed saying: ‘Holy Father, I pray not only for them, but also for
those who will believe in me through their word.’” The prayer of
Stephen and the prayer of Jesus offer great lessons for us. The
former had great confidence, echoing the words Jesus uttered from
the cross, to turn self over to the Father. His prayer, teaches us
the gift we can always offer to others, forgiveness. How special to
use it in this Jubilee Year of Mercy. The prayer of Jesus, perhaps
directed to the apostles and disciples, is also the prayer He
continues to offer for us. Think for a moment. In these words of
John’s gospel, I find Jesus praying for me, right now, at this
moment. Wow! I ask that I can be as prayer filled and forgiving as
was Stephen. I ask that the prayer of Jesus for me, will bear fruit
today.
“Mientras lo apedreaban, Esteban oraba, diciendo: ‘Señor Jesús,
recibe mi espíritu’. Después, poniéndose de rodillas, exclamó en
alta voz: ‘Señor, no les tengas en cuenta este pecado’. Y al decir
esto, expiró.” … “Jesús levantó los ojos al cielo, diciendo: No
ruego solamente por ellos, sino también por los que, gracias a su
palabra creerán en mí.’” La oración de Esteban y la oración de
Jesús nos ofrecen grandes lecciones. El primero tenía gran
confianza, haciendo eco de las palabras que Jesús pronunció desde
la cruz, de entregarse al Padre. Su oración nos enseña el don que
siempre podemos ofrecerles a otros: el perdón. Es algo especial
usarlo en este año de Jubileo de la Misericordia. La oración de
Jesús, quizá dirigida a los apóstoles y
discípulos, es también la oración que El continúa ofreciéndonos.
Piense por un momento. En estas palabras del evangelio de San Juan,
yo encuentro a Jesús orando por mí, ahora mismo, en este momento.
¡Maravilloso! Pido que yo pueda estar lleno de oración y perdón
como lo estuvo Esteban. Pido que la oración de Jesús por mí dé
fruto hoy. “Gesù continua ad aprirsi con i suoi nei giorni che
precedono la passione. Gli piace anticipare le realtà sublimi che
otterrà per i suoi attraverso la sua ormai prossima morte e la sua
risurrezione. Cristo, Mediatore tra Dio e gli uomini, ha reso
possibile che ci fosse una sola famiglia nel cielo e sulla terra,
la famiglia dei figli di Dio. Il Padre eterno è nostro Padre, il
suo regno, la sua casa e la vita divina del Cristo sono anche
nostri. “Il Padre - posso dire con Gesù - mi ama”. È in questo
nuovo ordine che la preghiera cristiana trova il suo posto. Noi
prima non sapevamo chiedere, e non potevamo farlo. Non si tratta di
pregare ma “di avere una relazione di amicizia con colui che, noi
lo sappiamo, ci ama” (Teresa di Gesù, Vita 8). Noi, prima, non
sapevamo domandare e non potevamo farlo. Ma, attualmente, dato che
il Padre ci ama e desidera la nostra amicizia, possiamo essere
sicuri di essere ascoltati, e di ricevere una grande gioia da
quella amorosa comunicazione con lui, che è la preghiera. La nostra
preghiera non è soltanto nostra, essa è anche e soprattutto quella
di Cristo. Così terminano le preghiere della liturgia e così deve
terminare la nostra: per Cristo nostro Signore.
