EHLI Dear Parishioners, On April 30, 2020, Bishop Kagan released a number of modifications to the restrictions that he issued on March 18, 2020. One of the modifications includes the resuming of public Masses in parishes of the Diocese of Bismarck. The full text of Bishop Kagan’s modified directives can be found at bismarckdiocese. com. If you or anyone in your household is sick in any way or is in one of the more vulnerable groups of persons at a higher risk of contracting the COVID-19, please stay at home until such time as you or that person is able to return to the church for Mass. My Jesus,I believe that You are present in the Most Holy Sacrament. I love You above all things, and I desire to receive You into my soul. Since I cannot at this moment receive You sacramentally, come at least spiritually into my heart. I embrace You as if You were already there and unite myself wholly to You. Never permit me to be separated from You. Amen.

An Act ofSpiritual

Communion

The Church encourages those who are unable to receive the Eucharist to make an act of spiritual communion, when we unite ourselves to God through prayer, especially while watching the Mass or making a visit to our Lord in the Blessed Sacrament. It is a beautiful way to express to God our desire to be united with Him when we are unable to complete that union in the reception of Holy Communion.

SMART GUIDELINES FOR ATTENDING MASSBelow is a summary of the precautions that must be observed for those who attend public Mass:• There is to be no congregating and visiting before, after,

or during Mass in the gathering space or other areas of the church.

• Family households may sit together in one pew, and all other persons must maintain social distancing in church; from front to back, every other pew is to be left empty. Pews will be marked.

• The exchange of the Sign of Peace remains suspended.• Holy Communion will continue to be distributed under

the sacred species of the Consecrated Host only, and Holy Communion is to be received in the hand only.

• Only priests and deacons are to distribute Holy Communion until further notice.

• Social distancing is to be maintained by the faithful as they receive Holy Communion.

• Collection baskets will not be passed from pew to pew during Mass. A secure donation drop box has been installed on the wall at the main entrance of the Cathedral. By Saturday, May 9, donation boxes will be at all entrances. Please place your donation in one of these drop boxes before or after Mass.

• Hand sanitizer will be available at all entrances of the church.

• Our gathering space, adoration chapel, and side chapel will be set up for overflow, with chairs that are properly spaced for social distancing purposes.

• The public areas of the church will be sanitized after each Mass. Holy water fonts will remain empty until further notice.

CONFESSIONS

Beginning, Wednesday, May 6, 2020, confessions will be available at the Cathedral at the following times:• Monday-Friday 7:20 AM to 8:00 AM• Saturday 7:00 AM to 8:00 AM, 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM &
