Ascension of the Lord Matthew 28:16-20 1. “When they saw him, they worshiped but they

doubted.” Share a time when doubt in something had an impact on your life.

2. This is often called the great commission. What are the four things that Jesus commissions the 11 to do? In your opinion, which of these has the Church done well; which ones could the Church do better?

3. In what ways do you feel God is with you always, even until the end of time?

We laugh, we shake our heads, we tear up, we believe, our whole being is filled with His presence. We see and share in His love for us and for others. I’d like to share a few Sneaky Jesus moments with you. Fr Tom’s birthday was May 12th and we surprised him with a Birthday Parade. Fr Tom came out of the church and said, “Did I miss a funeral? What’s with all the cars?” After ex-plaining what was happening, it was such a blessing to see him be showered in love, appreciation, and affection! He was blown away. #Sneaky Jesus! We have a parishioner who contracted Covid-19 and was hospitalized. She was in ICU and on the ventilator for 22 days. We thought we were going to lose her, but she’s a fighter! She came off the vent, went to rehab, and came home this weekend! #Sneaky Jesus! We’ve all been challenged to connect differently in this sea-son that we are in. Oh, I like in person so much better, but I discovered once again, you play the hand you’re dealt. Who knew ZOOM would be the conduit to make this happen and help me connect in ways I never would have imagined. I thank Sneaky Jesus for Tuesday afternoons and connecting with my Discipleship group. I discovered how much they re-ally mean to me. #Sneaky Jesus! I’m leading a TED Talk Teachable Moments series on Monday nights. The prepara-tion, sharing, and praying filled a spot in my heart that I did-n’t realize was empty. #Sneaky Jesus! Connecting with my spiritual director, having cocktails to celebrate the end of school with my Holy Cross buddies, Alpha Youth on Wednes-day nights, using Zoom to be with the people I love and who give me life… all of it and more… #Sneaky Jesus! So this Ascension Sunday, let’s stand together in awe, shake our heads a little bit, laugh some, cry some, appreciate more, and fill our hearts with the JOY that only God can give us! Reflect back on the past 2 months… you have had #Sneaky Jesus! moments. I know you have… so name them, claim them, and proclaim them! That is how we bring Christ alive in our hearts and in this world… name those moments when we know God is/was working in our lives…claim them – let God know you know He’s working in you… it’s not a coinci-dence, or being lucky… it’s God working! Proclaim them – share it – out loud – tell others how He is present in your life and in those #Sneaky Jesus moments! And that my dear friends is how we go and make disciples! Marlene Stammerman

Dear Friends, As we celebrate the Ascension of Jesus, I wonder again what the apostles were thinking and feeling with yet another life-changing experience with Jesus. “After He had said these things, He was lifted up while they were looking on, and a cloud received Him out of their sight”. (Acts 1:9). Jesus ascended up into the sky and went into a cloud and disappeared…what were they thinking? I don’t know that these would be their words, but I would have said “Sneaky Jesus”. (Not my term, I borrow it from Sr Helen Prejean). Sneaky Jesus are the moments when we can’t explain it, but we know God had a hand in it-those moments where all we can do is stand in awe of all that God can do. Continued next column
