Good day all. The new “normal” is keep 2 metres from each other and no large gatherings. The mantra is stay safe, stay home and wash hands. All of this is in place to protect ourselves and stop the spread of Covid 19. The Knights are affected as eve-ryone else. We are concerned for our members, our community and our nation. The Knights have an im-portant new program “leave no neighbor behind” (see page 3). We must continue fulfilling our mission of charity. We have an opportunity to continue working in Unity and Fraternity. Please check in with those living on their own. Ask if they need assistance with groceries or other necessities. Or just call to chat. Check in with your priest. See how they are making out and ask how we may assist As Knights, we need to reset our priorities and redirect monies to those requiring assistance, such as Good Shepherd , Kerr Street and Safetynet. The executive is working on this. Knights will be con-sulted and asked for approval to increase our dona-tions to these causes. Regarding key business this month, we have elec-tions.Thank you to all who are standing for re-election. Your experience shows that the future is strong for our Council. Both Roberto Pegoraro and I will not be standing for re-election. It is time for new ideas and enthusiasm for using technology keep our Council strong. Please volunteer for a position on the execu-
tive, get involved and contrib-ute to the future successes of our council. In addition over the next few years, we need to review the challenges of maintaining our halls. Both need upgrading in structural and inside decor to keep them sustainable for the future. Currently our halls have made a profit. The new normal will look nothing like what our past
was. Our Knights of Columbus must change its face to our community., Make our KofC council stronger and bet-ter for the future. Vivat Jesus. Bob.

MARIAN LADIES Just a reminder, due to the COVID-19, our May meeting is cancelled. We will meet again on September14th at 6:30pm. Details will come over the summer. As I am writing this newsletter changes are hap-pening by the hour. We are all housebound and not sure what the next steps will be in the com-ing weeks. At least there was some good news today as I am writing this newsletter, we are starting to see the flatten of the curve in the community. Unfortunately, our most vulnerable are still not out of the woods. Please stay healthy and keep a safe distance from everyone. Also pick up the phone or send an e-mail to another member or friend. Some-times just that little chat or note will make someone’s day. When the warm weather ever shows up, re-member we still need to keep our distance. And most of us should not be going out to our shop-ping. Ask for help if you need to. I am sure some of the younger Knights may be able to help out. Please remember all our members and their
families in your prayers.

LEAVE NO NEIGHBOR BEHIND As the Covid 19 pandemic continues, our duty is to lead our families, protect our parishes, and serve our communities, remembering always that where there’s a need, there’s a Knight. Knights of Columbus are called to step into the breach and leave no neighbor behind – especially in this time of crisis. As the coronavirus pandemic continues, our duty is to lead our families, protect our parishes, and serve our communities, remembering always that where there’s a need, there’s a Knight. Supreme Knight Carl A. Anderson has challenged Knights to take this moment as an opportunity to “deepen our commitment to the very principles which define us: charity, unity and fraternity.” Knights of Columbus are encouraged to serve and sacrifice for those around us. Many, including in our own council and parishes, are isolated and alone in quarantine. Food banks, blood centers, and other essential services have been depleted of their vital supplies. There are many people and plac-es that require urgent help. Knights are encouraged to engage in five types of service activities:
1. Support Your Brother Knights 2. Support Your Parish 3. Support Your Community 4. Feed the Hungry 5. Participate in Blood Drives

PRAYER TO MARY DURING THE CORONAVIRUS PANDEMIC O Mary, you shine continuously along our journey as a sign of salvation and hope. We entrust ourselves to you, health of the sick, who at the cross were near to the pain of Jesus, keeping your faith firm. You, Salvation of the Roman people, know what we need, and we trust that you will provide for those needs so that, as at Cana of Galilee, joy and celebration may return after this moment of trial. Help us, Mother of Divine Love, to conform ourselves to the will of the Father and to do what Jesus tells us, He who took our sufferings upon Himself, and took up our sorrows to bring us, through the Cross, to the joy of the Resurrection. Amen We seek refuge under your protection, O Holy Mother of God. do not despise our please – we who are put to the test – and deliver us from every danger, O glorious and blessed Virgin.

COUNCIL ELECTIONS-NOMINATIONS OPEN Our updated slate of candidates is found be-low. There is no change after nomination night on April 14th. Thank you to those who have contacted me to share your thoughts and con-cerns regarding nominations over the last 2 weeks. Over the past week, I have also con-sulted with our GK, DGK and FS. As a result, nominations are now accepted by email, text or phone call until 5pm on May 12th – prior to the scheduled start of our (virtual) May General Meeting. Nominations will close at 5pm sharp on May 12th, with the plan to forward the slate of candidates in time for the Election Chair re-port during the General Meeting. Voting will take place as needed, and results reported, pri-or to the June General Meeting. More then ever, I need your help to fill the open officer positions below. We are looking for members who would like the opportunity to lead a team of experienced officers, to continue the great work we do at Marian Council. With 6 years of DGK/GK experience, I can offer my support to our new Grand Knight and Deputy Grand Knight. To nominate* a brother knight OR for more in-formation, contact me at [email protected] / 905-599-1206 (text/call).
