Inside this issue:
Cancelling same day: For a court booking, call the Club as early as possible and we will recycle your court. If someone else books it, you will not be charged. If the court goes un-booked, you will be charged. For a private lesson, you will be charged 50% of the lesson cost for a same-day
cancellation or 100% for a no-show.
Waitlist: Members can now add themselves to a waitlist for courts online at betconline.net. Just select the day you are hoping to book and click “Add To Wait List.” You will be prompted to fill out parameters for the time you are available to play. If a court opens up, the Front Desk will call you to
confirm you would still like the court.
With the Club's effort to implement and continuously improve on-line booking and our communication, cancelled courts can be re-booked quickly by other members. With that in mind, we have updated our late cancellation policy from two days to just one to benefit our members. In other words, members can avoid paying a late cancellation fee by canceling courts and lessons at least one day in advance instead
of the previously required two.
Cancelling at least one day prior: Just call the Club during business hours the day before your reservation. We will delete the
reservation for you.
Thank you to the volunteers, sponsors and partners of our 4th Annual Special Needs Camp, April 6-7. We had a record 30 athletes and couldn’t have done it without you!

The pros make volleying look easy. Two important keys to their superb volleys are their contact point and continental grip. To volley at a high level it is imperative to use a continental grip. To find a continental grip place your index knuckle on the middle of the second ridge of your grip. Your continental grip should make your forehand and backhand volley grip feel equally good. Most beginners and players struggling with their volleys have a difficult time meeting the ball squarely with a continen-tal grip. These players generally contact the ball with a slanted contact point in-stead of square contact point. As a result their shots pop up and land wide. If you have this problem you will need to rotate your forearm until your strings meet the ball squarely. Getting a good shoulder turn and using a crossover step will also help you get your strings aligned to the incoming ball. Once your strings hit the ball squarely guide your racquet face
slightly under and around the side of the ball. This will create under spin and take some of the pace off the ball which will help keep the ball in the court. Make sure you use a short blocking motion. Your strings should be slightly open or slightly facing up on your finish. To improve your volley, use a continental grip and ontact the ball with your strings facing squarely to the ball by rotating your forearm and turning your shoulders. Once you have straightened your contact point you will have better control and have con-fidence to hit the volley harder.
Pro Tip: Straighten your contact point for a better volley

Spring tennis season at BETC is in full bloom (pardon the pun) and adults looking to get their games in tip-top shape might consider jump-ing in on some of our intensive workouts. Popular advanced adult workouts include the Wimbledon Workouts (levels 3.5 and up) on Fridays from 6:30-8pm and Satur-days from 1-2:30pm, and the Games Workout (levels 3.5 and up) on Sundays from 12:30-2. There are also some great beginner clas-ses (level 1) and intermediate clas-ses (levels 2 and 3) that combine technique work and fitness that are held during most every day. Check out the lesson brochure for days and times!
