If you have a knowledge involving HYDRAULICS, PNEUMATICS and APPLIED ELECTRONICS and at least 3 years industry based experience involving the application of these technologies, you may well be ideal for this post. If you are a confident communicator and have experience involving: planning, installation, commissioning and fault diagnosis, then joining the team at the NFPC may well be the start of your new career.
The National Fluid Power Centre is a world leader in the provisionof short specialist training courses relating to hydraulics, pneumatics, electronics and control involving both mobile and industrial applications, with Electronics and Control seen as a growth area.
As a CETOP Certified Education Centre, the NFPC offers a range of competence based qualifications and you would be involved in both course delivery and assessments.
The centre works in some 27 different sectors and is the preferred training provider for many National and International companies. Stage 1 Hydraulics or equivalent. If you feel that your experience takes you beyond Stage 1 Hydraulics, you could consider completing our self assessment questionnaire on line at www.nfpc.co.uk
1) To take your overall knowledge and skills to the next level to enable you to better manage and maintain complex hydraulic systems and controls associated with Offshore applications.
2) Ensure that you know the causes of failure in hydraulic systems and apply the necessary preventative measures and know the procedures to follow to carryout effective fault diagnosis.

(IH2) (5 day course)
On completion of this course candidates will know:
1) How important it is to be able to read and interpret machine and system circuit diagrams and match this to a working system.
2) The function, operation, control and setting up procedures of a range of components used in conjunction with Offshore Applications
3) The operation and performance of a range of hydraulic pumps, associated controls and setting up procedures.
4) The causes of failure in a hydraulic system and the symptoms to observe and the actions to be taken.
5) Risks associated with working on or close to hydraulic systems and the importance of following safe working practices at all times
CANDIDATES ARE ENCOURAGED TO BRING ALONG THEIR OWN CIRCUIT DIAGRAMS TO SUPPORT GROUP DISCUSSIONS
during the practical sessions of this course candidates will engage and apply the following skills:
1) Building a range hydraulic circuits by interpreting hydraulic circuit drawings and selecting appropriate components.
2) Setting up procedures covering a range of pressure, flow and load holding valves including screw in cartridge valves.
3) Connect the electrical interface to the hydraulic controls using manual switches and pressure switches.
4) Using a multi-meter to check the signal continuity of a solenoid operated valve when identified as a possible fault.
5) Setting up systems employing proportional control valves (pre-compensated) and load sensing axial piston pumps.
6) Follow correct procedures when carrying out fault diagnosis

We combine 3 established courses leading to a CETOP Recognised Qualification
This combination meets and exceeds the BFPA Minimum Education Recommendations for
Hydraulics at this level and supports the BFPA TRAINING PASSPORT.
YOU WILL COVER: fundamental hydraulic principles, symbols and circuitry, component function
and operation, hydraulic fluids and contamination control, hoses and couplings, maintenance
procedures and safe working practices.
This course has a HIGH Practical Content
YOU WILL build working circuits, go through setting up procedures and safe working practices,
investigate performance and record results. You will gain knowledge and skills to improve your
work based performance
FINALLY YOU WILL be further educated and trained to take the CETOP Level 1(H1)
Competence Based Qualification
This will involve a written and practical assessment to gain this CETOP recognised qualification

the use of mathematics and formulae are used to establish component sizes, performance and efficiency.
To many, this course will be an excellent REFRESHER and is definitely a recommendation to those planning to acquire a CETOP Level 2 or 3

Basic formulae and units including transposition and BODMAS
Short form/fast track formulae and their application
Flow rates in pipes, hoses, fittings and valves- associated pressure drops
Cylinders- relationship between, pressure, area and force
Cylinders- relationship between dimensions, flow rates and speeds
Pumps – Input powers, size, flow rates and efficiencies including gear box torque efficiencies.
Laminar and Turbulent Flow, Reynolds Nos/Flushing
Hydraulic Motor Performance – pressure/torque relationship, speeds, flow rates and efficiencies
