FOURTH GRADE HONOR NIGHT We will honor our fourth grade students on Wednesday evening, May 22nd. The
awards program will begin at 6:00 p.m. We hope you can join us as we celebrate and
honor these students as they prepare to move on to intermediate school.

CHARACTER LIFELINE
Smith Fine Arts Academy promotes positive character building by high-lighting Character Lifelines each month. The students below were chosen by their teachers for show-ing patience this month. Students were showing patience and under-standing towards their classwork and others.
Congratulations to the following students: Lincoln Harris, Elizabeth Wells, Xavier Blair, Peyton Chas-tain, Wyatt Gamble, Ryleigh Price, Corey Lache, Brie Hayden, Madalynn Hansen, Tyler Malone, Aryanna Woolbright, Carra Mont-gomery, Kyndalynne Toms, Bradee Thacker, Jewel Stillman, and Au-brey Lancaster.
TITLE I
Federal funding has been made
available through school-wide Title
I services to Smith Fine Arts Acade-
my for the purpose of providing
students with extra support in
reading/language arts. This extra
support is available for all students
at Smith Fine Arts Academy. Class-
room teachers, Title I teachers, and
instructional aides will provide as-
sistance in reading/language arts
and math through small-group and
individualized instruction as chil-
dren demonstrate need for sup-
port. Please contact your child’s
teacher about support services
your child may receive.
K-3 HONOR
PROGRAMS
Our second semester Honor Pro-
grams will be held on Wednesday,
May 29th. The program for Kinder-
garten & 1st grade students will
begin at 10:00 a.m., and the program
for 2nd and 3rd grade students will
begin at 10:45 a.m.
Family and friends are welcome to
attend, provided they have passed a
background check this school year.
SUPERSTAR’S DAY
Superstar’s Day will be Thursday,
May 30th. Students should come
to school dressed for a day of fun
and physical activity. Students will
be served sack lunches on this day.
Parent volunteers are needed.
Please contact the school if you
would like to help.
Remember the sunscreen!
SPRING FUNDRAISER
Thank you to all of the students,
staff, and parents who made this
fundraiser a success! Congratula-
tions to our grade-level top sellers:
David Shortridge, Tucker Carroll,
Logan Forler, Elias Phillips, Addy
O’Neal, and John Atkins. Our over-
all top seller was Tucker Carroll.
Congratulations!
BOGO BOOK FAIR
The Buy One Get One Free Scholastic
Book Fair will be May 13-May 20.
Students will be able to purchase
books in the library throughout the
week. The book fair will be open for
all students everyday from 8:30 to
9:15 a.m. daily. Students will also
have the opportunity to shop during
library/computer lab time.
The last week for students to check
out books will be the week of May 6-
10th. Wednesday, May 22nd will be
the last day for AR tests to count for
the school-wide prize giveaway. Stu-
dents must have read and passed 20
books to qualify for the givea-
way. All library books must be re-
turned to the library by Thursday,
May 23rd!
TALENT SHOW
Wednesday, May 29 at 1:30:
Come and enjoy a variety of enter-
taining acts at this year’s talent
show. Kindergarten—2nd grade stu-
dents will perform collaborative acts
directed by their teachers, and many
of our 3rd and 4th graders will per-
form individual or small-group acts.
Monday, May 10 is the deadline for
talent show entries. Dress rehearsal
for participating 3rd and 4th graders
will be held Tuesday, May 28th.

TRANSFER REQUESTS
Transfer applications are now availa-
ble online.
If your student lives outside of Smith’s
district, and he/she will be in Kinder-
garten-4th grade next year, please
visit msdofmartinsville.org.
Click on Enroll >> Transfers
If your student lives within the MSD of Martinsville, but outside of Smith’s district, please select and submit “Transfer between Elementary Schools”.
If your student lives outside of the MSD of Martinsville school district, please select and submit “Out of District Transfer”.
Please note:
A SEPARATE application is re-quired for EACH child.
Space will be allocated on a first-come basis and is restricted to class-size limitations.
Approval is determined by central administration.
Transportation to and from school must be provided by the parent/guardian.
A new application must be sub-mitted for each school year.
