May 22nd Session Meeting May 27th—Trinity Sunday May 28th Memorial Day Office Closed May 29th—31st Office Hours 9:00AM—noon June 1st—Office Closed presbyterian It seems to me like we are people who swing to extremes. Those of you who closely follow our poliƟcal climate know exactly what I mean. When it comes to char- acter, weight loss, or spiritual development we do the same thing. We either search for a quick easy fix – five easy steps that guarantee speedy and amazing results, or we throw our hands up in the air at the far too costly, complex, and impossible task at hand. Very seldom do we allow a quiet faith to lead over our loud logic and emo- Ɵons. God gave Moses ten commandments, but we decided that was too many to even try and keep them all. Then the reformed church promoted the “Six Great Ends of the Church.” In the past, Presbyterians could tell you what they were and how we were trying to promote them. Then we were inundated with the seven highly effec- Ɵve habits, the five purpose-driven goals, and the four spiritual laws. We tried to fol- low all these steps, but we came up Ɵred, not filled or fulfilled. The boƩom line is that we are tempted to swing to the opposite apatheƟc pole and decide to just driŌ with wherever culture calls. There is a beƩer way to live out your calling, to fulfill your created purpose, and to thoroughly enjoy life. Do you want to know how? Jesus made it real simple when quesƟoned about all the laws folks were trying and failing to follow. When quesƟoned how someone could aƩain eternal life, “He answered: 'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind'; and, 'Love your neighbor as yourself'" (Luke 10:27). It might not be easy, but it sure is a whole lot simpler. In the upcoming months we will be talking a lot about LGLP. Don’t get wor- ried, it is not a divisive poliƟcal trend. I want us to be able to easily and quickly con- verse about LGLP, so let’s get used to it. LGLP simply stands for, “Love God. Love People.” Jesus’ simplisƟc, impossible-without-God, but life-altering, way helps us to beƩer grasp and live out our created purpose. Please be liŌing up the church daily in your prayers. Remember the church is God’s people, not the building. We need to be praying for each other and liŌing each other up every single day. Together may we love and live out loud. Your Pastor and Friend, Louis Imsande

Easter Sunday

Thank you, thank you, thank you to the dedicated people who gathered to rehearse and offer their gifts of music to the glory of God here at PIPC. We were so blessed to have 14 musicians from the Pawleys Island Concert Band join us; thank you Carson Turner and Peggy Welch for making this happen! The Chancel Choir and our instrumentalists, Leigh Eddy, Paula Richardson, and Renee Windham were outstanding! I cannot leave Easter Sunday without thanking JANET FRITZ for preparing a brunch between the two services for the choir and band. The presentation was absolutely beautiful and the variety of food was delicious. Thank you, Janet!

Our exam-prep care packages for our college students are....traveling throughout the eastern US from Rhode Island in the north to Florida in the south and 15 points in between. Many thanks to all of you for enthusiastically embracing this project and making it happen. Special thanks to those who paid

postage, printed postage, baked, and assisted our youth in the packing of the boxes. Thank you to our youth for all they did to make each package personal and unique. The boxes were filled with baked goodies, candy, a Target gift card, an inspira-tional card, and handwritten personalized notes from our

SALT youth.

May is a busy month for the youth as we prepare for Youth Sunday. What better way to celebrate Pentecost than to see how the Holy Spirit has touched the lives of our youth. Be sure to mark your calendars for May 20th to hear how you, the church, have affect-ed the lives of our high school seniors. The foundations you have helped build in these young people are phenomenal. They look for-ward to leading you in a day of worship. Be in prayer for our youth as they choose their summer mission activities. We have a group preparing for Salkehatchie; Lilli-an is preparing for her World Race; and oth-ers are looking forward to participating in “Fun in the Son” worship week. The Wife of Noble Character Proverbs 31:10-31

A wife of noble character who can find? She is worth far more than rubies.

Her husband has full confidence in her and lacks nothing of value. She brings him good, not harm, all the days of her life. She selects wool and flax and works with eager hands.

She is like the merchant ships, bringing her food from afar. She gets up while it is still night; she provides food for her family

and portions for her female servants. She considers a field and buys it; out of her earnings she plants a vineyard.

She sets about her work vigorously; her arms are strong for her tasks. She sees that her trading is profitable, and her lamp does not go out at night.

In her hand she holds the distaff and grasps the spindle with her fingers. She opens her arms to the poor and extends her hands to the needy.

When it snows, she has no fear for her household; for all of them are clothed in scarlet.

She makes coverings for her bed; she is clothed in fine linen and purple. Her husband is respected at the city gate,

where he takes his seat among the elders of the land. She makes linen garments and sells them, and supplies the merchants with sashes.

She is clothed with strength and dignity; she can laugh at the days to come. She speaks with wisdom, and faithful instruction is on her tongue.

She watches over the affairs of her household and does not eat the bread of idleness. Her children arise and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her:

“Many women do noble things, but you surpass them all.” Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the LORD is to be praised.

Honor her for all that her hands have done, and let her works bring her praise at the city gate.

a ransom for many.” Mark 10:43-45

Family first. . . Meet the Leach family: Jeremy, Stacy, Kennedy, Ava Jane, & Dalton, our PIPC Family of the Month! The Leaches recently became church members after attending regularly for five years. They chose to join in order to become more involved with their church family. Church is also a personal family affair for the Leaches. Jeremy is the oldest son of Ken and Jane Leach, grandson of Naomi Hoog-moed, and brother of Corey Leach and Amanda Powley. Kennedy is eight years old and enjoys baseball, writing, drawing, and playing outside. Five-year-old Ava Jane likes riding her bike, swinging, singing, and playing with babies and dogs. Dalton, nine months old, likes clapping, smiling, and cruising. The Leach family enjoys beaching it, taking walks to-gether, cooking, camping, and yard work. At PIPC, the kids are involved with the JAM children’s group and Jeremy is a member of the PIPC Pickers. Kennedy also enjoys singing with this band when he is able. Jeremy serves with the SC Highway Patrol as a member of the MAIT (Multi-Disciplinary Accident Investigation Team) Unit. He holds the rank of Sergeant. He enjoys playing soft-ball, coaching baseball, watching the Yankees, and playing the guitar. Stacy is a Physical Therapist Assistant at the Weston Group. She enjoys crafts, cooking, and piyo.

Get to know the Leaches! They are some of our newest members,

so say a word of welcome when you see them!
