The Musings of Pastor Jimmy
Hello Friends,
A few years ago, I came across a book by AJ Jacobs called A Year of Living Biblically. The book chronicles AJ as he strives to live by the Bible for a full year. Fast Forward to 2018 and the book is now a sitcom on primetime television called Living Biblically. My curiosity was peeked, and I checked it out. I won’t pretend to be Holier than Thou and condemn the show as it caused me to not only laugh, but really think.
I watched the title character Chip make a vow to literally live the Bible, this includes the Ten Commandments and so on. To see how the character becomes Biblically focused caused me to really think. What would happen as Christians, not television characters if we really took our faith and the Word of God seriously. How would our lives be changed? How would the world be changed?
We seek enlightenment from everything these days, but the Word of God and wonder why our lives are no better than before. But still what would happen if we took Romans 12:2 seriously, “Don’t be conformed to the patterns of this world but be transformed by the renewing of your minds so that you can figure out what God’s will is—what is good and pleasing and mature.”
I’ll tell you what will happen… Revival of the Church. When I say Church, I mean the Body of Christ, the people. To be more specific US, Mt Olivet! As your Pastor I don’t want to be stuck in complacency and apathy. I pray that we as believers will get serious about our personal relationship with God and our relationships with each other. There is too much going on in our world that is making Satan happy, lets stop that. Let’s get up and get serious and experience the wonderful peace and love of being in relationship with God, Amen!
Keep Loving One Another!
